man it looks like a lot of us fantasy ufc guys didnt do very well at all. there were a lot of things that would be considered upsets. whats up with bisping he is looking viscous latley so i am excited for the next fight i think one more top contender then he should be on to anderson silva. but that wont be till like early 09 or late 08.

Man I didnt think Hughes was gonna lose that one, I guess I underestimated Alves…and what happened to “QUICK” Swick, his last 2 fights went to decision, he did better before he changed weight class

My picks were terrible. I felt bad for Nate because that elbow hit the side of his head not the back. Bisping does look on fire but I still want to see him fight someone like Nate, Franklin, Henderson, or even Okami before he gets title shot contention status. Vera’s loss was a heart breaker but gotta love his attitude. Werdum looked good too I just prefer he stops translating languages he does not speak.(stop/I’m ok) Hughes got knocked the f out bad and boy did I hate seeing that. He is really on his way out the door with all the new young faster talent. Hopefully he gets his fight with Serra next and he can call it a day after a win. Lambert too….wow…didn’t see that happening but wow. I cannot believe Wiman either. I did not know he could fight like that. Perhaps I am a fan of his now. Sanchez sure looked funny on his way out of conciousness didn’t he. For all those who bashed this card I am happy you missed out becuse it was definitely worth seeing.

i liked marquardt before this fight, and loved him after! that was a badass pile driver. and yes, bisping does look very good lately… against nobodies. i can’t wait to see him fight a real fighter so everyone can see what he’s really made of. regarding the hughes fight, i couldn’t really care less, i don’t like or dislike hughes but he’s outa the picture for a title shot even before this fight. i did like alves until he couldn’t make weight. the dude was prolly too busy admiring himself in the mirror to jump in the sauna. the guys’ way to into himself and i can’t stand it. put down the donuts and make weight like everyone else, or fight at 185. i wonder if dana laughed when he was asking for a title shot.

Matt Wiman v Tiago Tavares was a good fight, what a knockout. I wanted marquardt to win to, he would have if it wasnt for the ‘illegal’ elbow. Hughes lost it when he shot for the first takedown and he couldnt take him down as easily as he thought. Good win for Alves, agree with 2girls1cup, ive lost respect for him because he couldnt make weight. Move up to 185 and fight franklin, alves looked much bigger than hughes on the night.

Bisping DESTROYED Jason day. Im glad he did because of all the people that hate him. I want to see him step it up a bit now and fight Nate Quarry or get his scheduled match up against Chris Leben!

I was hoping Hughes could have pulled it out, but deep inside, I kinda new Alves would prove to be to much for him (poor guy). I still want to see him fight Matt Serra though. Alves is on a tear, but I think maybe the UFC needs to seen him a message by making him fight and beat at least one more tough opponent (maybe Mike Swick) before giving him a title shot for not making weight on this fight.

Bisping is on a tear as well, but I agree 2girls1cup, he has gotten some easy fights lately. I still want to see him in against Leben in his very next fight. If he dusts Leben up and puts him away in impressive fashion, then they can give him a shot at The Spider!

I was happy to see my boy Kampmann get a nice win and stoppage in his first fight back since being injured. He is probably the best kept secret at the 185 division. This guy is really good!

Werdum’s all of sudden on a hot streak, huh? He now has two impressive KO wins over Gonzaga and now Vera. It will be interesting to see who they put Vera up against next. I’d like to see him in against Gonzaga, Kongo, Hearing. As far as Werdum goes, he will definitely get the next title shot against the winner of Big Nog-vs-Frank Mir and at this point, he deserves it.

I see alot of people were surprised by Wiman’s win…..not me! Matt loves to bang and has good power. I expected him to win this fight. I would love to see him in against Frankie Edgar, Nate Diaz, or a rematch against Spencer Fisher.

I was a little disapointed that Marquardt lost. I really wanted him to win this fight. I guess I didn’t realize how good Leites is.

great card tonight full of suprises, bet there was alot of money lost on the gambleing side, think i only called 3 fights haha over the moon about the count did u see his face on the way in that guy was pumped! pi*sed off about the marquardt fight he lost that fight rather then leites winning it, cant belive his corner guy ran round the cage with him on his sholders f*ckin joke. wiman looked like an animal great stuff from him always good to see one of the u/fighters doing well,

I really messed up on my fantasy…The count is on fire but again he hasnt fought anyone. I didnt see Hughes losing that one , but i have to give it to Alves. he looked good , disappointed he couldnt make weight

I just want to comment in curiousity of truly how hard he tried to cut the weight. I mean in all seriousness he was WAY heavier looking then Hughes, who admits he doesn’t have a big chest. Alves walks around at like 190or a lil more from what I heard. And you KNOW they weren’t going to cancel the main event, bottom line is you shouldn’t have to wait til the last day or two to cut the weight. It was disrespectful and even more that he tried to GSP it up and ask Dana White for a title shot. He has to fight at least one more time because if and when GSP goes thru Jon Fitch it’s going to be a good 6 months before a shot for Alves. So he needs another match in retribution.

  • LeeTheMMA said:

Man what a Card, Alves looked so big that 4lb made a differnce but still he was good, GSP will tame the Pitbull.

I dont like alves just cause he is ****y but he did put on a pretty one sided performance despite being a fatty. he mentiond at the post fight interview that he hurt is ankle and was not able to run and other things to properly make weight i give him a little credit but i have no problem for giving him a shot he is a performer. the great nate…. that really blew he should of had that fight in the bag i think herby really f’d him but no worries he is no mazagatti. bisping has one more shot against a contender and i mean a real contender like him and another guy fight for who has the next title shot anyone else agree with that one? he is really looking alot better as a MW than he ever looked at LHW.
Swick did real well i think marcus davis is not a chump and the fact the went to a dec was cause of davis not cause swick wasnt performing. but i have noticed that swick is a lot more cautious than he has been in the past. its a good thing thats forsure he is matureing as a fighter. jason lambert just didnt look right to me something was up.
whats up with tavares i thought he was gonna destroy wiman that was nuts that is for sure. well when is the next fight card like 2 weeks exactly. anyone else think the majority of the fighters on this season of tuf blow????? with exception of CB!

  • Dietrich said:

I was suprised Swick and Davis went to decision. Thumbs up for Nate’s piledriver.

  • ryan said:

yea my fantasy picks sucked too.. herb dean should feel like **** for taking nate’s 2nd point away costin him the match, and the davis swick fight was boring as **** but alves put on a great show always has too bad he couldn’t make weight

I’ve praised the flying knee that ended the Penn/Sherk fight and I’m gonna praise the flying knee that ended the Hughes/Alves fight. I love seeing flying knees. They change lives. This ppv was straight up awesome.

  • kouch said:

Well, it’s nice to see many of you excited over this event. After all the bad mouthing of this event it turned out pretty f-n exciting. Alves having a sprained ankle is still no excuse for not making weight. He should have been on a schedule and not waiting until the last minutre to cut. He was not prepared and I am disapponted he won and had the nerve to ask for a title shot. Hughes is done but still the most dominant WW champ up to this point. GSP may change that but has yet to.

  • JustJoe said:

There were alot of good fights, but i still think that when people are paying $600 to see fights there should be a title match or atleast a super fight on the card. Granted Hughes used to be superfight caliber, but Hughes Alves isn’t a superfight imo.

    BREAKING NEWS:

I just read on Fightline.com that the UFC has signed the #1 P4P Boxer in the world, Floyd Money Mayweather AKA Pretty Boy to a figting contract. Not only am I a big fan of MMA, I am also a big fan of Boxing and I read on Maxboxing.com last Friday, Mayweather just recently officially retired from boxing on last Friday. If the reports of Mayweather signing with UFC are true, It makes since now, why Dana White says he has some news that would rock the MMA World! THIS IS HUGE!!!

On the flying kneee. I used it to answer my wife’s question about kick Ko’s. My wife asked me if anyone has ever been caught with a front kick to the face ( I guess she was thinking of the Karate Kid when she asked it) The best front kick I could think of was Pat Smith in UFC 6. Anyone got any others.

    from a sherdog post
group of investors led by Dana White have agreed in principle to purchase the UFC from Frank and Lorenzo Fertitta for an undisclosed amount. Included in this investment group is WWE’s Vince McMahon who will now own a minority stake in the company. They also have plans on taking the company public by years end.

At the press conference also expect Dana to announce that with the help of McMahon, who has extensive connections in the New York State Athletic Commission, they were able to get the UFC sanctioned in New York, and plan on having a show sometime in the winter at Madison Square Garden. That is all I have right now.
