What a joke! i never understood how you have that much time to prepare and you don’t make weight. The last time someone didn’t make weight against Hughes (that being Riggs)got his head worked, i hope the same thing happens.
Another thing that stands out is Bisping weighing in a pound shy of the division weight, remember people this guy won the contract and fights at 205. I think he has a lot to prove but this makes me real anxious to see him at 185 for the future.
IF Thiago beats Hughes, I hope they don’t give him a title shot because there is no excuse for being that much over weight……
I’m just glad it wasn’t a title fight that went bad.Does anyone know how that changes the money?
He must get a huge cut. Remember how annoyed DW was when gabe reudiger didnt make weight in TUF5??
I like pitbull he has good standup but i prefer hughes in this fight. Once pitbull is on his back where he hasnt really been in many of his fights he wont know what to do. Ive got this one Hughes via TKO G&P Round 3
Did anyone watch Countdown on Spike? It looks like Thiago needs to spend a little less time in the club chasing girls and a little more time worrying about his job. I hope Hughes destroys him.
not very professional of him in his biggest fight i dont understand it when they have a lot of time to prepare.
I agree with you Dirty. If he does win this fight regardless to how impressive he is in doing so, they should not give him the Title Shot now. Make him fight at least one more fight before against someone really tuff (Kosheck, Sanchez or someone like that) and give the next title shot to the winner of Davis-vs-Swick instead.
No title shot for either fighter here. Serra should fight Hughes for free tv in Atlanta and Thiago can get in the back of the line either way.
If you can’t cut weight fight at your normal weight.
BTW Is there a must see fight on this card? I just looked at it again and it looks like filler for a new season of Unleashed.
SO is this the big new from DANA.. his fighters cant make weight and This card should be FREE…
Thanks for the laugh Thuwak
I would say there is alot of good fights on this card, but not a great fight. Good thing i’m watching it at a buddies house. Good reason to get drunk at 2pm. I’m looking forward to the Swick/Davis fight the most. Then Hughes/Alves.
he DP bisping is fighting jokes!!!! no good fighters have challenged him wait untill he fights franklin and henderson and silva
thaigo must have been training with travis lutter haha there pretty much went his title shot if he wins this fight
bisping sucks. i can’t wait to see him fight a real opponent. luckily for him, 185 is pretty empty right now. Even better news for him is that hammill prolly can’t cut to 185 and beat his ass again in front of some lame ass judges. i’d love to see him fight hendo, franklin, silva, but most of all i’d love to see wandy cut down and rip this dudes head off.
2girl1cup speaks my language! haha its nice to hear the truth wandy would tear his head off…and hamill at 185 wow scary haha! bisping better bring a gun against the top contenders!
In a way I am not surprised by this at all. Seriously, everything else went wrong with this event from injured fighters to imprisoned fighters. Now I have a change in heart and want Hughes to take Alves down and pound his head into another shape. Not only is there no excuse for not making weight but the thought of this match helping Alves career in any way pisses me off. Lutter should have been released when he blew the title match by not making weight with Silva. When Alves is introduced tomorrow I wish they would mention his not meeting weight in humiliating fashion. I’ve been defending this card as being better than what most people see it as and Alves has to go F it all up even worse.
Like I said, he needs to stop looking for girls at the club and focus on cutting weight.
WOW youd think with the biggest fight of his mma career Alves would make an extra effort to make the weight… He wont beat Hughes so it dosent really matter
Swick against Davis looks like a fun one.The rest are just ok…
He probably didnt cut the last 4 lbs because he knew it would drain him. He’s rather be closer to 100% to have a chance at beating a legend. He knew Hughes wouldnt turn down the fight and if he wins, he’s got Hughes name on his record.
he shouldn’t be allowed to fight someone as great, and respected as hughes if he can’t make weight. thats a joke, he’s a professional. i wrestled in high school, i always made weight but if you didn’t you cut that weight no matter what, match or not. and you got your rear end handed to you for not making it.
why does everyone critisise Bisping all the time, he’s successful at what he does and he’s well respected in the UFC, hes reasonably young and is still learning. He may not have fought the best people but he would have crippled the crippler!
Pete90 They criticize Bisbing for the same reasons they do Kimbo… they babied him with easy wins to get his record up…just like they’ve done Rashad Evans and Diego Sanchez. Forrest Griffin is the only one they’ve done extremely well with from the show and they are making sure it ‘appears’ the TUF winners are still doing well.
I Just read on MMARATED.com that Dana says the Mayweather story is not true!
I originally made the post after reading on Fightline.com that Mayweather had signed the deal with UFC.
from a sherdog post
group of investors led by Dana White have agreed in principle to purchase the UFC from Frank and Lorenzo Fertitta for an undisclosed amount. Included in this investment group is WWE’s Vince McMahon who will now own a minority stake in the company. They also have plans on taking the company public by years end.
At the press conference also expect Dana to announce that with the help of McMahon, who has extensive connections in the New York State Athletic Commission, they were able to get the UFC sanctioned in New York, and plan on having a show sometime in the winter at Madison Square Garden. That is all I have right now.
