I think this will be one of the best seasons yet. Hughs is a brilliant mind F-ER. I have seen Danzig fight live before and he is very impressive. Without seeing the others fight yet, I will blindly pick him to win. He also seems like a class act.

yeah scarola looked like he didnt want 2 fight well im am eager 2 see who is going to fight next does anyone one have a clue or knows who is the next bout

  3. I got the impression Scarola didn’t want to fight as soon as he started to prepare for the bout and it wasn’t really a surprise win. Obviously next week he wants to leave the house but I think most people saw something like that coming before the episode even aired.

Danzig does look like the favorite to win the show. I wish Serra’s boy Scarola didn’t tap, especially with only seconds left in the first round. Anything can happen in a fight and maybe Scarola pulls off the upset in the second round by submission. Matt Serra is such a cool guy and he really seems to be a good human being. He could have really put Scarola down and yelled at him, but he chose not to. Serra is a very good coach. I hope he and his team wins. Hopefully Scarola doesn’t leave the show.

Not sure why you think Matt Serra is a cool guy. He comes across as a jerk, cussing and talking tons of smack. He needs to learn how to act like a professional who is also a champion. He did treat Scarola good at the end though.

I hope all fighters this season have the desire and drive as Roman did, too bad for his injury. It would have been nice to see what he could do, or if he was just all full of b.s.

  6. Red says:

Roman looked like an intense dude. He will be on the Ultimate Finale in the undercard for sure. I think Dana White wants fighters with Roman’s mentality who are willing to fight with injuries, even serious injuries. Roman seems to be for real. I feel bad for the guy, but injuries happen and once he recovers, he’ll fight for the UFC at least once.

  7. Jay Roach says:

Scarola seemed to have the skills to win the fight. He simply didn’t have the desire to win. He faught as if he were sparring in practice.

Matt Serra is a great coach, but preferential treatment(since they’re friends) can take the motivation out of a fighter when the public is watching. It’s like the parent that tells the child “you can do it” at the high-school soccer game. The child realizes that the parent is encouraging them by default and starts to doubt himself.

I think there is such as thing as too much support when you need to rely on your “killer instincts” to win a fight.

  8. Alfred says:

Roman showed a lot of heart wanting to fight even with a broken elbow, he will be back in the UFC for sure. Roman is an ARMENIAN fighter, via Moscow, just like Karo Parisyan and Manny Gamburyan, all of those guys fight with their hearts and give it their all in every battle. I am proud to see my fellow Armenians out there giving it 100% every day and night.

I don’t understand why Danzig is even on the show. The UFC should have just picked him up and let someone else have his spot on the show. The show is designed to find the next up and comer who hasn’t been able to catch that break to the next level. He is an already accomplished and proven fighter, having just fought at Pride 33. Not that I don’t like him, I just think his experience gives him an unfair advantage; the way Scarola was already defeated just knowing who he was going to fight. Scarola looks like he could have made it to the finals, with an oppenent without a reputation like Danzig’s.

I cant stand Matt Serra. He has no respect for Hughes. Hughes is 100% right when he says Serra is not even a top 10 welterweight contender. He will lose his fight to Hughes and there will be a GSP Hughes 2. I think this one will be a little bit more of a challenge for GSP.
