UFC 76: Rich Clementi vs. Anthony Johnson

By: Kris Karkoski (admin) | Sep 14, 2007

In a very late addition to the UFC 76 card Rich Clementi will take on Anthony Johnson next weekend in Anaheim. The bout takes the place of a cancelled bout between Wilson Gouveia and Jason Lambert.  The UFC had announced that the event was to feature just 8 fights but they have found 2 willing fighters to fill in for the remaining bout.

Clementi holds a 25-12-1 mixed martial arts record including one win and three losses in the UFC. He was defeated by Roan Carneiro at UFC Fight Night 9 in June in his last UFC bout. In his last MMA fight on September 1st Clementi defeated Kyle Gibbons by round 1 submission at an IFO event headlined by Travis Wiuff and Sean Salmon.

Johnson comes into the bout undefeated with a 4-0 record. In his UFC debut at UFC Fight Night 10 Johnson surprised fans with a 13-second knockout victory over Chad Reiner.

It’s good that the UFC is having their usual nine fight card for UFC 76. Hopefully this fight finishes quick and we get to see this fight towards the end of UFC 76. I want Clementi to win, but I think Johnson is too big and strong. This guy knocked out Chad Reiner in under twenty seconds and Reiner went three hard rounds with Burkman. Johnson by K.O. in the first round.

  2. This is a very good matchup on the undercard of this event especially when you consider it was signed just over a week before the event. The only problem I could see would be that they aren’t prepared but we’ll wait and see what kind of show they put on.

Was it a fluke, or can he prove himself to be the real deal? Can’t wait to see!

Hopefully Anthony Johnson doesn’t think he is better than he really is, when he fights Rich Clementi. Hoepfully both guys do their best and it will be a fun fight for the fans.
