UFC Veteran Baroni Signs With EliteXC
UFC veteran Phil Baroni has signed a multi-year contract with EliteXC, the promotion announced last week.
Baroni (10-8 MMA, 3-5 UFC) fought in the UFC eight times between 2001 and 2005. Inside the octagon “The New York Bad Ass” picked up wins over Curtis Stout, Amar Suloev, and Dave Menne and was defeated by Matt Lindland (twice), Evan Tanner (twice), and Pete Sell.
His last fight, a second round submission loss to Frank Shamrock, took place in June 2007. Baroni subsequently tested positive for steroids and was suspended from competition for six months.
Baroni will make his EliteXC debut on March 15th at Icon Sport “To Hell and Back” against Kala Kalohe Hose. The winner of the bout will be crowned the new Icon Sport World Middleweight Champion after Robbie Lawler was stripped of the title earlier after pulling out of three Icon Sport events in 2007.

Phil baroni had his time when he was truelly one of the greatest but that is long gone but i would love to see him come back strong!
washed up
See now a Lawler/Baroni fight would entice me. That would be an almost guarenteed KO of someone I don’t like. It is too bad they stpipped Lawler. I didn’t realize it had been that long since he defended his title. It is a shame Couture wasn’t the ICON champ. We may be seeing the Fedor/Couture fight sooner if that was the case.
There is a sweet ass picture of Fedor/Couture stair down on a website. For Exetreme Couture add out there.”I heard a rumor that Fedor signed Exetreme Couture. Watch the two of them fight on there own PPV, just to piss Dana White off.
Scot, who do you think would win Fedor/Couture
Randy would win 2 or 3 years ago….now its prolly Fedor.
randy will win ground an pound in the second hope this fight happens, im not a fan of fedor so would love to see him get his arse kicked
Randy is the man! But to put a finger on who would come out on top is very hard to do. As to Phil “New York Punk Ass” Baroni with maybe his most impressive win over Yuki Kondo would get smashed by a new and ruthless robbie lawler. The guys a punk and I would love to see him being chucked over the edge of the brooklyn bridge!
I am a huge fan of them both. I think if they can get this fight to happen this year, Randy will win. If it doesn’t happen til next year, Fedor wins. Fedor has NEVER fought someone with the “fight strategy” that Randy posseses. Randy will win by ground and pound(if it happens this year)
As much as I luv to see Randy fight. I still have to say Fedor will win. You guys may say Randy has the ground and pound. But, you need to go to youtube and see Fedor fight video. This guy beats the hell out of people on the ground. Plus he has a 26-1 record, Randy is like 14-6.
I think EliteXC is a more fitting organization for Baroni than WVR, although I would have loved to see him fight Kikuta, too bad it got cancelled, probably due to this signing.
