This was a pretty good night of fights for a free show. Especially considering it was the Minor League for the UFC. A little disappointed for Chase Beebe but that Miguel kid is tough. Carlos Condit needs to be promoted to the next level and fight with the big boys like fitch, Diego Sanchez, and those guys to see how tough he really is.
Does anyone know if and when the Urijah Faber-Jens Pulver fight is gonna happen?
Lord Mark – I remember April/May for some reason.
So, could Condit drop to 155. He was 167.5 at weigh-ins and doesn’t look like he puts much on for fight night. He would be an interesting UFC lightweight. He could start by destroying Corey Hill
I cant stand Condit – he just annoying to me.. put him in with some real competition before spouting off…
I am pumped for the next ppv…Doug Marshall vs Brian Stann!! Awesome, FINALLY someone to shut up Marshall…he annoys me with his little KD’s . knocked dead…yea…you are a badass man… if he can KO Stann, Ill be impressed…but Im sure he will avoid standing up with him – if he is smart, atleast…..as for Faber vs Pulver… good fight, but Pulver will kill him… I used to think Faber was a stud then heard he lost to Tyson Griffin, who is no slouch, but still .. he isnt Grade A material either….I think the UFC should get a 145 class so they can have Faber, Pulver, etc…WEC and UFC should be like WWF and WCW…just merge…
Condit is the real deal and he is fighting tuff competition. If you think the WEC does not have good fighters or good competition you should go fight. Good Luck The Albuquerque kid Condit has a tough tranning camp here in new mexico as he trains with many of the UFC’s big dogs. He is a champ for a reason. And on a local radio station I heard the Pulver fight was going to be in May but if you really need to know quick log on to 104.1 The Edge Radio Albuquerque and listen to Uriah Fabers interview on Podcast. Lots of fighters are from NM or train in NM, and they stop by local radio stations to talk to fans and let them know whats up.
Ohh ya and Tyson Griffin is bad ass. I dont know what UFC your watching!
you like Stann better than Marshall? I got a lot of respect for the Marine Corps…but Stann seriously gets on my nerves…any sentence out of his mouth is basically,
“Marine Corps, Marine Corps, Ooo Rahh, Marine Corps, Semper Fi. Marine Corps.”
We get it dude, Marines are tough…but you need to get a personality instead of being Marine-bot.
I hope Marshall slaps Stann around a bit.
Does anybody besides me. Get pissed, when so called “USA citizens” come out to the ring waving another countries flag and wearing another countries flag i.e. roger huerta, leonard garcia, and manny tapia. Cant stand them, hope they all lose and go train live and work in that “other” country if its so great. Traitors
i would rather hear a guy talk about the marine corp, defending our country and freedom against terrorism…than hear some guy talking about knocking someone dead….it gets old to me…
and wow…the comeback to me saying condit sucks is for me to step into the ring….thats the best you can do? Please…i dont need to step in the ring to know talent…do i need to step on the football field to know the raiders suck? Anyways.. Condit hasnt faced anyone tough…tough enough….he needs to go to the UFC and show he can fight…
Tyson Griffin is good..dont get me wrong…. but hasnt faced top competition yet…his toughest test in the UFC was Frank Edgar…and though it was a good..semi close…match….he lost… he will be tough in the future, more experience will help…but no where near the top yet…
Griffin beat Faber early in Faber’s career. And I think Faber was at a higher weight class (155) when they fought. He is a much better fighter now. Either way though I am looking forward to this fight. Pulver is one of my favorite fighters of all time and Urijah is becoming one of my favs quickly. Should be a great fight!
Well I went off the deep end when you said put him in with some real competition before spouting off…
The WEC has good compotition and Condit is just the best right now. He makes everyone else look bad. He should be signing into the UFC sometime this year.
See, I dont know how “great” the competition is in the WEC…I will say though, WEC has been more exciting to watch than the UFC because I think 2-3 fights of that whole card went past the 1st round!! The rest were explosive…and I love to see that….but I dont know how talented they actually are…
For example…put Doug Marshall, the best in the WEC at his class, against some UFC talent like Houston Alexander, Rashad Evans, Thiago Silva, Forrest Griffin, Keith Jardine, Chuck Liddell, Sho Gun, and of course Rampage….could Marshall beat ANY of those guys?!? I dont know…maybe Jardine, but thats it…
Middleweight – WEC champ is Paulo Fihlo – sure, he has been said to be one of the best in the world at his weight, but was truly unimpressive in his last fight against a former UFC no name!! Put him up against the likes of Dan Henderson, Anderson Silva…they would mop the floor with him!
Welterweight – Condit’s weight…how would he do vs UFC best talent in the sport!! The laundry list of names is endless in this class, with the likes of Fitch, Koscheck, Sanchez, Danzig, Diaz, Hughes, Serra, and GSP – If I had to pick some people Condit could beat, I would have to say Danzig and maybe Serra – MAYBE…but thats it.. Condit would be back in the WEC faster than he arrived in the UFC…
And so on…I could like other weight classes, but its pointless to point out the obvious fact..the WEC, though more exciting at times than the UFC, is the farm system to the UFC…the minors….and though some WEC fighters dominate there, there is a reason they are WEC and not UFC…
Jason N. I somewhat agree with you, if not careful your mma knowledge could very well be questioned. If my memory serves me correct, Jardine beat both Forrest Griffin, and superboy Chuck Liddell. So if your not careful your whole arg. about the wec lack of talent, could be questioned by recorded facts not speculation. Just for future knowledge Serra is the welterweight champion, and if your one of those guys who says not really. He knocked GSP out call it a fluke or call it what you may it happened. I do believe GSP will win this time though. I don’t personally like Condit but I am afraid he may be better than some think. I also believe the wec has better comp. than most people think simply because it has said for so long that ufc guys are the best. In my opinion they dance way to much in ufc today and could very well be overwhelmed by the go gettem pace set by these so called minor leagues. But then again it’s just my opinion as mma fans we should all remember mma is full of surprises.
Go ahead and question me, thats fine…. I say Jardine because I am not sold on the guy… I also said MAYBE would lose…I didnt say he would Lose…
I never did say GSP was the champ or anything like that…GSP did lose to Serra, but will beat him in Canada…It was a fluke, but if he loses again, I will be the 1st to say I was wrong!
And I have no problem debating knowledge of MMA… I mean, I look at the WEC talent and some that are tough in the WEC couldnt handle the UFC.. look at Brock Larson, got beat in the UFC… new champ Varner got submitted by Franca when in the UFC… Jens Pulver couldnt beat Lauzon and so he moved just bc of the weightclass..
I know I dont have alot of examples, but those were just off the top of my head… what I do know is that the competition is good in the WEC but mix them with the UFC and it wouldnt be a contest….but hey, if Condit goes to UFC and beats a big name, I will get on here and say I was wrong…but I dont see either of those options happening…
Pulver did not not move because of Lauzon, he moved after the B.J. Penn fight. Your not sold on Jardine after he has knocked out Forrest Griffin and Chuck Liddell that sounds like personal likes instead of real facts. Why would you bring up Brock Larson I don’t even look at him as an mma fighter. To say that someone got submitted by somebody Jeremy Horn submitted Chuck Liddell and was latter knocked out by the guy.
You need to read my posts better…I DID NOT say he left BECAUSE of Lauzon…I said he lost to him, as in…he couldnt even beat JLO… and he moved BECAUSE of the weightclass…he didnt leave bc of Penn either, it was the desire to be at 145..
And you question my mma knowledge and you tell me Jardine knocked out Forrest and Liddell? Hmm.. bc if I remember right, the forrest fight was stopped due to strikes…being knocked out is what Gonzaga did to Cro Cop…..and the Liddell fight was a split decision…so please get your facts straight…its nothing personal I have vs Jardine….he is a good fighter, he wouldnt be in the UFC if he wasnt…but he did get his butt handed to him by Alexander….I think he was robbed and should have the title fight, not Forrest…
I brought up Brock Larson bc of a couple reasons.. 1..I was trying to remember WEC fighters who fought in the UFC and 2 Larson has done well in WEC…he had a title fight vs Condit… he got quickly defeated, but was a top contender and still is…
The point of all this is that the UFC is loaded from top to bottom…WEC has some talent, but not 1 guy in the WEC right now could be a champ RIGHT NOW in the UFC…if you disagree…please tell me who would be a champ and then tell me who you think they would beat….I’m dying to know
Hey I agree that the ufc has great talent and nobody except the top 1 or 2 in other venues could hang. I personally believe on the ground Condit even though I don’t like him could very well beat GSP, Serra, or Hughs. Standing not a chance but the guy has dangerous bjj. Stann striking could hang with anyone in the ufc that guy throws like he’s swinging a wrecking ball. By the way I didn’t say Pulver left because of BJ I said after that fight. I also was wrong that was a split dec. sorry.. All I have been trying to say is I can say this one will win and you can say that one will win, but until it happens it’s opinions. also did not mean to offend you so if I did fogive me.
thats fine, and i agree with stann…but to me he is like lesnar…without the wrestling…he is very 1 dimensional…but by saying that…i think he will beat doug marshall….i would pay to see that fight, but thankfully i wont have to… i love VS for that…..well that, and it is in HD.. Spike needs to get their **** together!
I doubt anyone will see this post at this point… but…
Faber is badass. He will destroy Pulver – and I like Pulver!!
And Dave, usually – yes. I get pissed when random “illegals” wave their OWN flags when they claim they want to live here. Well, wave the friggin’ U.S. flag!!!
But, Huerta lives/trains in the USA, and is a US citizen!! Hello… He was BORN IN L.A.!!!!
yo whoever thinks that fabar isnt amazing then you havnt seen the one legged knee he through against curran but nayway Doug Marshell is going to KNOCK STANN DEAD in the beginning of the second round and jens got lucky in his debut but certainly wastn scared someones i think that kimbo would knock out tim silvia easy but get taped by minitoro easy i would like to see KIMBO vs LESNER
I agree with lowcash faber is a badass. I would like to him in the ufc. For as the whole flag thing, I love when my opponent brings a nother countries flag in the cage with me, it makes me want to beat his ass harder in front of his people. Think the wec will be the breaking point for the ufc to start paying there fighters more money.
