UFC 84: Goran Reljic vs. Wilson Gouveia

Goran Reljic will make his UFC debut against Wilson Gouveia at UFC 84 in May, has exclusively learned from Zoran Saric, Reljic’s manager.

UFC 84 takes place May 24th at the MGM Grand Garden Arena in Las Vegas. Headlining the event will be a lightweight championship bout featuring current title-holder BJ Penn taking on former champion Sean Sherk.

Reljic (7-0 MMA, 0-0 UFC) hails from Zadar, Croatia and trains with Roger Gracie and fellow-Croatian UFC fighter Mirko “Cro Cop” Filipovic. In 2007, Reljic swept both the 93kg and absolute categories at the European Gracie Jiu Jitsu Championships. The 22-year-old fighter has submitted 5 of his opponents en route to a perfect 7-0 professional record. He last fought in August of 2007 defeating Waldemar Golinski via unanimous decision.

Gouveia (9-4 MMA, 4-1 UFC) has emerged as a potential title contender in the UFC’s light heavyweight division. Following a UFC debut loss to Keith Jardine at The Ultimate Fighter 3 Finale, Gouveia has won four straight fights inside the octagon. After three impressive submission wins against Wes Combs, Seth Petruzelli, and Carmelo Marrero, Gouveia defeated Jason Lambert at UFC 80 in January via second-round knockout.
