Jason MacDonald Signs New UFC Contract
Middleweight UFC fighter Jason MacDonald revealed recently on Sportsnet.ca that he’s signed a new 4-fight contract with the promotion in advance of his UFC 83 fight against Joe Doerksen.
Here’s some insight on the new deal from MacDonald:
I signed a new contract this week, which gives me some peace of mind. It’s a four-fight deal and comes at a good time because I was going into the last fight of my old contract.
Facing the last fight of a contract always puts on a bit of extra pressure to perform. I still want to perform of course, but now I know I have a little job security. So the next fight in Montreal will be the first of my new deal.

I hope he didn’t get top level money. Why in the heck would UFC want to re-sign McDonald and it refuses to sign Matt Lindland.
HE should get good money he is a very good fighter that is usually exciting to watch.
i agree thumper i like jason mcdonald glad were guna get to see more of him
He is UFC worthy because he is a top ten, but he is in a bind as he can’t beat Franklin or Silva. Doubt he could be Henderson, Marquardt, Okami, or Bisping. He can compete with the Chris Leben’s and Martin Kampmans though. All I am saying is that the middleweight divison needs to spend time bulking up the serious title contenders and not the middle of the pack guys. By all means keep the second tier guys around, they have good fights and can improve. I want to see Lindland, Filho or Lawler in the UFC middleweight divison.
I want Dan Henderson to win against Anderson Silva, but if Anderson wins, won’t it force Dana White to swallow his pride and sign a guy like Lindland. Or perhaps get Filho from the WEC over to the UFC? By the way, Filho says his March fight vs. Sonnen is his last at middlweight. Could instead he move to UFC middleweight or even UFC light heavyweight?
If those don’t work out, I reckon Dana will beg Wanderlai to jump down. If Anderson wins who else can compete seriously? I imagine the Okami vs. Tanner winner would get a crack. Bisping could get his shot as could Kampman. After that who else????
I think he is a duechbag.
If Anderson wins, which I expect he will, it may force UFC to try to bring in someone else and I am sure they are already trying. Of course if Dan wins then the immediate thing to do is set a fight with Rich v Dan. I don’t know about Filho, he seems to be a good fighter but he hasn’t really fought anyone of note; no, Doerkson and Sonnen are not top ten fighters. I always have this argument with people over the 170 lb rankings and I can’t understand why nobody else seems to see it.
Bisping shouldn’t even be close to being considered for a title fight. I just don’t think he is the real deal.
