Former champions Urijah Faber and Brian Bowles will look to earn another shot at the bantamweight title when they’re slated to square off in the likely co-main event of UFC 139 on November 19 in San Jose, California, the UFC announced late Thursday.
Faber (25-5), a former featherweight title-holder in the WEC, narrowly dropped his rematch with champion Dominick Cruz earlier this month in the main event of UFC 132 after earning a title shot in his Octagon debut over Eddie Wineland in March.
Bowles (10-1) has scored UFC wins over Damacio Page and Takeya Mizugai to make his case for another shot at Cruz, who claimed the title with a second-round stoppage of Bowles in the WEC last year.
Cruz will make his next title defense against Demetrious Johnson in the main event of UFC on Versus 6 on October 1 in Washington, D.C.
UFC 139 is expected to be headlined by heavyweight champion Cain Velasquez’s first title defense against Junior dos Santos.
