Bart Palaszewski to Make Featherweight Debut Against Tyson Griffin at UFC 137

Bart Palaszewski (35-14) and Tyson Griffin (15-5) have agreed meet in a featherweight bout at “UFC 137: St-Pierre vs. Diaz” on October 29 in Las Vegas, the UFC announced on Wednesday.

The fight marks Palaszewski’s UFC and featherweight debut, while it will be the second fight for Griffin at 145-pounds.

Palaszewski is an IFL and WEC veteran who last saw action in a split decision loss to Kamal Shalorus at WEC 53 in December . Prior to the loss, Palaszewski had won four straight fights, including a decision over future WEC champion Anthony Pettis. Earlier in his career, Palaszewski was able to defeat UFC veterans Alex Karalexis, Steve Bruno, and Kyle Watson.

Griffin successfully made his featherweight debut over Manny Gamburyan at UFC on Versus 4 in June.  The Xtreme Couture-trained fighter made the drop following losses to Nik Lentz, Takanori Gomi, and Evan Dunham at lightweight.  The four time Fight of the Night bonus winner defeated Clay Guida, Gleison Tibau, and Hermes Franca earlier in his Octagon career.

UFC 137 is headlined by welterweight title bout between champion Georges St. Pierre and Nick Diaz and also features welterweight contenders BJ Penn vs. Carlos Condit.
