Next week’s Strikeforce: Fedor vs Henderson fight card has undergone a change as Bobby Green (15-4) has been tapped to replace Lyle Beerbohm in the event’s featured preliminary bout against Gesias “JZ” Cavalcante (15-4-1, 2 NC).
No reason was given for Beerbohm’s removal from the card. News of the change was first reported by MMAJunkie.
Green is a former King of The Cage champion who holds wins over Sevak Magakian and Charles Bennett. The recent Strikeforce signee was previously scheduled to face Milton Vieira at Strikeforce Challengers 18.
Cavalcante, a K-1 Hero’s and Dream veteran, holds wins over respected veterans Caol Uno, Rani Yahya, and Vitor Ribeiro. “JZ” has hit a rough patch in his career as he holds one win in his last six fights along with two no contests and losses to Shinya Aoki, Tatsuya Kawajiri, and Josh Thomson.
The fight with Green comes a month after an accidental eye poke caused Cavalcante’s fight with Justin Wilcox to end in a no contest at Strikeforce: Overeem vs Werdum.
The July 30 Showtime-televised event is headlined by a heavyweight bout between Strikeforce Light Heavyweight champion Dan Henderson and former Pride Heavyweight champion Fedor Emelianenko.
