The UFC continued its flurry of fight announcements on Saturday by adding a lightweight bout between Evan Dunham (11-2) and Shamar Bailey (12-3) to the UFC Fight Night 25: Battle On The Bayou card on September 17 in New Orleans.
Dunham has not seen action since a shocking loss to Melvin Guillard at UFC: Fight For The Troops in January. The exciting lightweight opened his Octagon career with four straight wins over Per Eklund, Marcus Aurelio, Efrain Escudero, and Tyson Griffin before dropping a controversial decision to former champ Sean Sherk at UFC 119.
Bailey gained notoriety as a quarterfinalist on The Ultimate Fighter 13 before defeating teammate Ryan McGillivray in his UFC debut at the TUF 13 Finale in June. A veteran of Strikeforce and M-1, Bailey holds notable wins over John Kolosci and Waachim Spiritwolf and his fight with Dunham will mark his lightweight debut in the UFC.
UFC Fight Night 25 will be headlined by a welterweight contest between former Strikeforce champion Jake Shields and rising prospect Jake Ellenberger.
