The semifinals of Strikeforce’s heavyweight grand prix are scheduled to take place at a September 10 Strikeforce event, according to MMAjunkie.
The semifinal bouts include Alistair Overeem vs. Antonio “Bigfoot” Silva and Josh Barnett vs. Sergei Kharitonov.
Overeem and Barnett advanced to the semis with wins in June, while Silva and Kharitonov won their quarterfinals in February.
The Sept. 10 event is not yet official, but will air on Showtime from a location to-be-determined and also includes middleweight champ Ronaldo “Jacare” Souza vs. Luke Rockhold, “King” Mo Lawal vs. Roger Gracie, Josh Thomson vs. Maximo Blanco, and Gegard Mousasi vs. Mike Kyle.
The addition of the heavyweight semifinals could bump at least one of the matchups to the preliminary card or another event.

about time have the finals on the week before x mas then merge strikeforce with the ufc and be done with it
i dont like the idea of that maybe some guys but not merge the hole organization it will put a lot of guys jobless there will be no where for the “not top 20″ fighters in each division
Not only is this taking too long, but in some cases its too little too late…
Sounds like a solid card, but this time slot is when the finals should have taken place, not the semi’s. Maybe if Fedor beats Hendo and somebody gets hurt they’ll try to squeak him as a replacement.
