Heavyweights Mirko “Cro Cop” Filipovic and Roy Nelson will both be looking to rebound from back-to-back losses when they’re expected to square off on the UFC 137 fight card on October 29 in Las Vegas.
Cro Cop announced the matchup today on Croatian TV.
Cro Cop (27-9-2) is coming off third-round KOs to Frank Mir in September and Brendan Schaub in March, after which UFC President Dana White called for his retirement before promising him at least one more fight.
Nelson (15-6) was also criticized by White following unanimous decision losses to top-contender Junior dos Santos in August and Frank Mir in May, but “Big Country” will have a chance to redeem himself if he improves his gas tank for a likely matchup with the PRIDE veteran.
UFC 137 is headlined by UFC welterweight champion Georges St-Pierre and former Strikeforce title-holder Nick Diaz.
