Former Ultimate Fighter cast members Kalib Starnes and Nate Quarry are set to go toe-to-toe at UFC 83 in Montreal on April 19th according to MMA on Tap.

Starnes (8-2-1 MMA, 2-2 UFC) is a Canadian fighter who was featured on the third season of The Ultimate Fighter. After a first-round submission win against Danny Abbadi in his UFC debut Starnes was defeated by Yushin Okami at UFC 64. After bouncing back with a win over Chris Leben at UFC 71 Starnes was defeated by Alan Belcher at UFC 77 as a result of a deep gash on his forehead.

Quarry (9-2 MMA, 4-1 UFC) made his UFC debut on the finale of The Ultimate Fighter after an appearance on the first season of the reality series. Following his UFC debut win over Lodune Sincaid, Quarry defeated Shonie Carter and Pete Sell and was awarded a shot at then-champion Rich Franklin. In the title fight Quarry was quickly defeated via a knockout punch midway through the opening round. Following successful back surgery Quarry returned from a year-long hiatus in September at UFC Fight Night 11 defeating Pete Sell via third round knockout.

nate rules he will contend for the title again one day, if he wins his next 3 fights then he will get a shot,

  • Lowcash says:

Was Quarry the guy in all the highlight reels that gets hit on the button and goes stiff as a board, hits the mat, and his arms are sticking straight in the air?

  • johnboy says:

yeah wen rich hit him he went down haha but on the highlight reel it also shows quarry knocking some one out

  • Thumper says:

Should be a good battle, real test for Kalib after beating Leben; was it a fluke or is he for real. That cut stoppage blew.

  • Napoa says:

Nate is one of my favourite fighters but i hate to say it i doudt he gets another shot at the title, i think he could of gave franklin a better challenge if he waited to takje that fight i think he is a good fighter and if he was a bit younger he could challenge for the title again. I think it is a great story how he almost had to quit fighting but is trying a back solution that no1 has heard of. Honestly i have no idea who is gonna win this fight. I like both these fighters a lot but if had to guess, i would say theat kalib wins by submission

  • scotchydow says:

I don’t know why, but Quarry is just one of those guys I want to loose (also see- Tim Sylvia, Karo Parysian, or Matt Serra) But, to be honest, not a big fan of Starnes either. Maybe we will have the first (or wait, second. There was that Grey Mannard fight) double KO. Fight to the death-Shoot the winner!

  • FixXer says:

I agree with u Scotchy…..I just do not like Nate Quarry. I do want to see him lose too. All those other guys u mentioned too….except Tim of course being as he is one of my favorite fighters.

  • derek says:

I rly hope Kalib wins this one. Hes a really cool person and that has alot of pottential if he can avoid injuries. it was awsome wen he went nuts on hisw vorner to and he like runs alot of charoties to. I say Kalib by decision

  • deaner says:

This should really be a good fight. I’m a big fan of Kalib and i dont mind Quarry at all. Hopefully Starnes gets the win though.
