All 24 fighters from UFC 131 earlier this month were issued nine-day medical suspensions by the Vancouver Athletic Commission, while Shane Carwin will be sidelined up to 60 days as one of 13 fighters who received longer suspensions.
The full list of UFC 131 medical suspensions includes:
- Shane Carwin: Suspended 60 days for multiple facial lacerations and nasal fracture
- Diego Nunes: Suspended 45 days due to scale and eyebrow lacerations
- Demian Maia: Suspended 30 days due to facial abrasion and thigh contusion
- John Olav Einemo: Suspended 30 days for minor head injury from TKO
- Dave Herman: Suspended 30 days for tooth avulsion
- Vagner Rocha: Suspended 30 days for thigh contusion and eyebrow laceration
- Yves Edwards: Suspended 45 days for facial abrasion and knockout
- Chris Weidman: Suspended 45 days for eyelid laceration
- Mike Massenzio: Suspended 30 days for facial abrasion
- James Head: Suspended 60 days for nose laceration
- Jason Young: Suspended 180 days (minimum 45 days) for foot injury and eyebrow laceration
- Aaron Rosa: Suspended 45 days for eyebrow laceration, facial laceration, and sprained elbow
- Darren Elkins: Suspended 45 days for eyebrow laceration

I can see the 60 for Shane. That nose was bad. I expect Him to return at the bigger size again, and be ready to thump. The Shane Carwin we saw against JDS was not what he should have been. He seemed a bit lost, and I think underconfident. Not to take anything away from JDS, who was being just a bit more cautious than normal. Speaking only for myself, I think i expected more of a bang from both fighters, but specifically Shane Carwin.
more of a bang would occur if it were a neanderbrawl. JDS although he likes to knock peoples heads off is a more skilled striker. I’m sure he didn’t want to get into a slugfest with Carwin
