Nate Diaz will look to snap a two-fight losing skid when he returns to the lightweight division against Takanori Gomi at “UFC 135: Jones vs. Rampage” on September 24 in Denver, Colorado, the UFC announced Monday.
Diaz (13-7), the winner of The Ultimate Fighter 5, followed up a pair of wins at 170 with losses to Rory MacDonald and Dong Hyun Kim, while Gomi (32-7) followed up a bonus-winning KO of Tyson Griffin with a submission loss to Clay Guida.
Gomi will also be looking to avenge his 2006 loss to Diaz’s brother Nick, who submitted the then-PRIDE champ with a rare gogoplata only to test positive for marijuana, which changed the bout to a no contest.
UFC 135 is headlined by UFC light heavyweight champ Jon Jones vs. Quinton “Rampage” Jackson and Matt Hughes vs. Diego Sanchez.
