UFC 82: Three More Bouts Now Official

Posted by Kris Karkoski on Jan 25, 2008 at 5:57 pm ET18 Comments

Today the UFC updated their official card for UFC 82 which previously included only the main event matchup between UFC Middleweight Champion Anderson Silva and Dan Henderson. Heath Herring versus Cheick Kongo, Yushin Okami versus Evan Tanner, and Josh Koscheck versus Dustin Hazelett were all added to the official fight card.

Herring-Kongo and Okami-Tanner will both be shown during the pay-per-view broadcast while Koscheck-Hazelett is not guaranteed to be shown but will likely be given priority time permitting.

Additional rumored bouts that could be broadcast include Andrei Arlovski versus Jake O’Brien, Jon Fitch versus Chris Wilson, and Diego Sanchez versus David Bielkheden.

  • Joe says:

CAN’T WAIT!!!! GOT 3 OF THE BEST SEATS IN THE HOUSE!!!! GREAT NIGHT O’ FIGHTS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • Thumper says:

Ah johnboy, Silva is going to pick Hendo apart.

  • belly says:

im looking forward to seeing how tanner looks on his comeback. tough fight against okami should be interesting.

  • Vampslayr says:

O’Brien isn’t a walk in the park. The way Arlovski’s been fighting, Jake may catch him by being the aggressor.

  • tubekid says:

Just needed to vent. Why are we not gauranteed to see Tyson Griffin vs Gleison Tibau on UFC 81?? That is going to be an awesome fight…two top notch lightwieghts..Griffin’s fights are always one of the most entertaining…i hope we get to see it…

Chris Wilson?? David Bielkheden?? Anyone know these guys??

  • Thumper says:

Bielkheden has been fighting for a number of years in Europe and won several competitions Wilson has been competing in the IFL and has a win over Jay Heiron who used to be a decent fighter. These guys are opponents with perhaps Bielkheden being the more legitimate of the two. Looks like the Kos fight may not be broadcast either; unbelievable.

  • johnboy says:

thumper i also THINK silva will beat hendo, but im hopeing for a hendo win im not writeing him off yet put it that way,

  • Lowcash says:

If all these fights (rumored and actual) happen, this is a strong and entertaining card. 2008 is starting off with a bang!

  • Jason says:

UFC 82 is a good card. BTW, how about UFC Fight Night 13? Maybe the best fight card of 2008, certainly will be hard to bear. You’ve got Florian vs. Lauzon. Hamill vs. Bonnar. Parisyan vs. Alves. Spencer Fisher vs. Marcus Aurelio. Clay Guida vs. Sammy Schiavo. Din Thomas vs. Josh Neer. Tommy Speer vs. Anthony Johnson. Also Frank Edgar is runored to be on this card. That means 4 of those above fights will go untelevised. The first 3 are locks for the main card and probably 4. I would say 6 fights could be televised when all is said and done, but that leaves out a few good fights. Why don’t they move some good fights to UFC 83. If Bisping vs. McCarthy is the main event I will be outraged and not even come close to ordering it.

  • Jason says:

I am rooting for Henderson too vs Anderson Silva. I like Anderson, he has shown himself to be a great guy. I liked how he acted in victory towards Rich Franklin. He is a class act. Henderson will be the best shot at beating him. While I want Henderson to win, a Silva win will force the UFC to sign at least one middleweight contender (Lindland, Filho, or Kang).

  • Jason says:

From what I hear Wilson is a great fighter. Don’t count him out. If I was Dana I would move Diego Sanchez to the prelim card, he isn’t winning and isn’t fighting a big name guy. kos vs Hazelett is a great fight, I would hope that if a prelim fight makes the televised portion it would be that fight. However, it looks like they have some slow and methodical fighters, and not necessarily knockout people. The scheduled fights could all go the distance.

  • Jason says:

    Less Joe Rogan more fights!

  • Kris says:

Both UFC 82 and Fight Night 13 look like great cards. Any event where Koscheck and Hazelett is on the undercard has to be stacked. UFC 84 is looking pretty solid as well.

  • eltz says:

YUP DIS YEAR WILL BE GREAT AND I CANT WAIT WHEN MY BOY KONGO GETS HIS TITLE SHOT
    KONGGGGOOOOOOO!!!!!!

  • Jeff Marks says:

Chris Wilson is goin to rock fitch looking foward to watching as chris has made a good rep for himself in MMA

  • joe says:

Look at the eyes of Chris Leben, and Rich Franklin, (both fights) after Silva hits them a few times. They look mesmorized, hypnotized, something. Silva is the best and most dominant fighter in the UFC right now. Hendo does have a big right and is a great greco-roman guy…should make for a good scrap. Hopefully Arlovski comes out like the crazy spartanesque fighter that we are used to. His performance against Werdum was dissapointing, hence the reason we haven’t seen much of him lately. If Heath Herring comes out in good shape, he should beat kongo. Kongo is big strong and technical, but Herring is a bull. The thing with these fighters is, some are trained to fight, some are just natural fighters. That difference makes champions. For instance “GSP” is a trained fighter, and a great athlete, but he dosent have that natural born fighting instinct that we see in guys like Marcus Davis, Big Nog, and Wanderlei Silva, guys who can take kicks to the head, hammerfists to the face, and big rights by Chuck Liddell, and everytime, they shake it off and come back for more. They dont cower in the corner (like tito did in the second chuck v. tito fight) when taking a flurry of punches. Some guys have that hunger and that natural born instinct, others just try to learn it.

  • rapha says:

This is going to be a hard fight for both guys. Chris Wilson ain’t no sleeper. He’s going to bring his A game against this guy.
