Why the 14k difference between Wiman and Diaz for wins? Similar records, Wiman has had 2 more fights.

Is it because Diaz won TUF? Is it because Diaz was televised? Just wondering.

  • huertarogerhuerta says:

Its gotta be because he won TUF they get something like a 6 figure contract now how big that 6 figures is I dont know but I think the contract is up afta 1 yr

  • Thumper says:

The UFC should have a minumum fight salary of 10k; asking a fighter to train, fight, and then recover from a fight for 4k is ridiculous.

  • johnboy says:

diaz is the man thats why hes guna be champ one day i think hes better then his big bro any1 agree?

  • Lowcash says:

    Thumper – I agree.

Johnboy – you’re absolutely insane. Diaz can’t hold the jock of countless fighters in the 155 class!!!

HE WILL NEVER BE THE 155 LB UFC CHAMP.

Penn, Stevenson, Huerta, Sherk, Franca, Guida…

Six guys right there Diaz could never beat, and there are many others.

  • Lowcash says:

huertarogerhuerta – You’ve gotta be correct. There is no way he should have been the highest paid fighter of the night, especially on a card he didn’t headline.

  • DrBdan says:

Yeah Diaz gets more because he won TUF. Wikipedia’s article on the Ultimate Fighter has more details on the “six-figure contract”.

In a nut-shell the contract outlines salaries for 3 years based on 3 fights per year (9 total) with only the first year guaranteed. So if you win TUF and then suck it up (Kendall Grove) you aren’t guaranteed the entire contract and thus not really “guaranteed” six figures. It looks like the UFC has increased the salary since TUF1 (which is where Wikipedia’s numbers are from I think) but it probably works the same way.

  • huertarogerhuerta says:

Yeah I totally agree with you Lowcash I dont think diaz has wat it takes to compete with the upper tier of 155 pounders yet his brother looked nasty until he ran into sherk karo and diego at 170 who would at the time b considered part of the upper tier of that division he even lost to Joe Riggs and that just shouldnt happen thats not taking anything away from Nate cuz his jitz r sick but can he hang with an animal like penn or huerta I dont think so can he hang with a cardio freak like a sherk idk his cardios never been tested(atleast that I’ve seen) and is his boxing enough to win when he fights someone who can neutralize his jitz all and all he stays away from the bong he should have a good carrer but before you start talking **** bout how your gonna run this division have the rematch with manny cuz everyone knows he doesnt get hurt nate spends that entire fight on his back

  • Lowcash says:

huertarogerhuerta – yep, I think that’s my problem with the dude. He’s running his yap about ruling the division, and he’s fought no one of substance!

I take that back, he’s fought Franca, who easily submitted him.

So put that in your pipe and smoke it, Diaz (HA!! I crack myself up)

  • Lowcash says:

DrBdan – Thanks, makes much more sense now. I still find it odd he was the highest paid (base pay) fighter of the night when he was never even mentioned in the promo’s or anything.

  • johnboy says:

im not saying diaz will be champ anytime soon the kids only 22 but i do belive in 2 years he will be a contender as for manny keeping him on his back thats probley were hes most dangerous hes got sick submitions which can only get better, i like the light weight divison at the moment some class fighters i can’t see many people beating BJ apart from himself! well maybe diaz haha only jokeing guys BJ is the man.

  • huertarogerhuerta says:

Im not saying hes not dangerous on his back I said his jitz was sick but he couldnt do anything to Manny submission wise in that first Manny beasted out of anything he tried to get on him and wat Im saying is if the fight had continued to go the way the 1st went that fight would be all Mannys

  • johnboy says:

yeah manny looked like he wa guna win that fight, hes a little beast but ide have to put my money on diaz if they went at it again, i was def gutted about miller loseing tho as i think hes got some good skills i hope dana doesn’t kick him out after that loss,

who do u think will get a tital shot after penn sherk then?

  • FixXer says:

funny that all these fighters combined didnt make the amount of money that Chuck Liddell makes for one of his fights.

  • huertarogerhuerta says:

I think if they sign Takanori Gomi that theyll do a champion vs champion type deal wit the winner of sherk vs penn to “unify” the titles and if that doesnt happen I understand Samy Schavio is coming to the ufc to fight Clay Guida I could see Schavio making a splash in this division quick with that nasty right hand
