UFC 131 Results and Live Play-by-Play for ‘Dos Santos vs. Carwin’

Junior dos Santos and Shane Carwin UFC 131 weigh will have live results for UFC 131 beginning at 6pm ET for the preliminary card, 8pm for the Spike-televised prelims, and 9pm for the pay-per-view card, which is headlined by heavyweight contenders Junior dos Santos and Shane Carwin.

Round 1 – Dos Santos and Carwin circle as they try to find their range, then Carwin shoots for a takedown but dos Santos gets him in the clinch. They separate and Carwin rushes in with a right that misses, but follows with a short right that connects. Dos Santos loops in a right, followed by a jab and uppercut. Dos Santos comes over the top with a right as Carwin fires inside. Another exchange of punches. Carwin drags dos Santos down, but can’t keep him there and they stand. Dos SAntos landing with the jab as Carwin continues to circle with his back to the cage. Dos Santos drops Carwin with a combo and unloads punches on the ground, but Carwin survives and returns to his feet before the bell. scores the first for dos Santos 10-8.

Round 2 – They touch gloves to start the second and dos Santos fires a high kick that misses to start the action. Dos Santos returns to the jab that keeps Carwin from finding a rhythm. Dos Santos peppers Carwin with the left and occasionally drops it the body, but Carwin finally rushes forward again but can’t connect. Dos Santos starts to mix in leg kicks and Carwin returns the favor. Carwin forces dos Santos to backpeddle and connects with several big punches. They trade leg kicks again and dos Santos goes back to the jab before the final minute. Dos Santos lands a solid head kick, but Carwin appears unfazed. Dos Santos’ left continues to find its target. Dos Santos attacks the body to finish the round. Dos Santos takes a closer second 10-9 to go up 20-17.

Round 3 – Carwin avoids the jab and takes dos Santos down to start the third, but he quickly return to his feet again. Dos Santos knees the body as they exit the clinch, then fires the left again. Carwin answers with some jabs of his own, then wades forward but dos Santos avoids. Dos Santos changes levels as he attacks the head and body with the left. Carwin forces dos Santos to back away again, but can’t connect this time. A hard left hook lands for dos Santos and starts to string together his punches. Carwin tries to answer, but dos Santos bloodies him with punches. Herb Dean has Carwin checked by the doctor, be he’s cleared for the final minute. Dos Santos ducks a combo and powers Carwin to the ground. They scramble back to their feet and Dos Santos avoids a slugfest with 30 seconds to go. Dos Santos works from the outside and gets another takedown at the bell. scores the third for dos Santos 10-9 to take the fight 30-26.

Round 1 – Nunes stalks Florian from the outside, but both miss with early combinations. Florian shoots into the clinch and drags Nunes down, but he gets back up. Nunes follows by taking Florian down, but they’re quickly back on their feet again. Nunes chops Florian down with an inside leg kick, followed by a spinning back fist. Florian marches forward with a jab then gets in Nunes guard with less than a minute to go, but Nunes stands back up. Florian blocks another spinning back fist from Nunes, but gets dropped with a left. Nunes pounces and Florian throws up a triangle, but the round ends. scores the first for Nunes 10-9.

Round 2 – Florian returns to the jab to start the second, while Nunes winds up for wild punches. Florian follows up a leg kick with a takedown attempt. Nunes struggles to stay on his feet in the clinch, and reverses into Florian’s guard. Nunes escapes a triangle, but is cut by an elbow. Nunes stands and kicks Kenny’s legs, while Florian returns the favor from his back. Florian scrambles back up, attacks with kicks, and gets Nunes down into half guard. Nunes stops Florian from passing to mount, but Kenny closes out the round with ground and pound. scores the second for Florian 10-9, leveling the fight at 19-19.

Round 3 – Florian and Nunes high five before getting to work in the third. Florian looks to be the fresher fighter and opens the round with a kick to the body. Nunes counters, but Florian answers with a high kick. Florian finds the mark with his jab, then gets an easy takedown on a tired Nunes. Florian punches the body as he passes to half guard, but Nunes stops him there momentarily and gets back to guard. Florian stands and drops punches before dropping into side control. Nunes gets back to his feet and presses Florian against the fence. Nunes throws wild punches as they separate, while Florian counters with the jab. Another high kick from Florian, followed by more jabs. Florian knees Nunes in the clinch before trading wild punches in the final seconds, with Nunes staggering Florian at the bell. still gives the third to Florian 10-9, giving him the fight 29-28.

Round 1 – The middleweights are hesitant as they circle to open the bout. Maia rocks Munoz after the action opens up, but quickly recovers after Maia doesn’t rush for the finish. Maia connects as he moves in to the clinch, but the action stalls as they struggle for position. After a restart, Maia unleashes punches and kicks, but Munoz blocks most of them. Munoz backs away and counters, but Maia moves in with another combo. Munoz tries for a late takedown out of a clinch, but Maia defends until the bell. scores the first for Maia 10-9.

Round 2 – Munoz uses a combo to go for a takedown, and pummels Maia’s leg with punches. Maia escapes back to his feet and goes on the attack with punches. Munoz counters and defends a takedown with a submission, but Maia escapes. Maia shoots for several takedowns and tries to pull guard, but Munoz continues to attack the body. Maia grabs a guillotine, but Munoz escapes into his guard and throws some punches from top. They’re restarted, but the round expires before the action resumes. scores the second for Munoz 10-9 to even up the fight 19-19.

Round 3 – Munoz takes Maia down after they circle to start the final round, but he quickly stands. Maia uses an arm to grab a neck crank, but Munoz escapes back to his feet. The crowd boos as Munoz and Maia struggle in the clinch. Munoz reverses a takedown from Maia before clinching again. They trade kicks to the body and miss with big punches in the final seconds as a close bout comes to an end. scores the third 10-10 and the fight a 29-29 draw.

Round 1 – Herman fires an inside leg kick to open the bout, and Einemo counters with a clinch. Herman fires knees and Einemo lands a punch as they separate. Einemo closes in, backs away, then pushes forward with punches. Herman blasts Einemo with leg kicks. Einemo grabs a leg kicks, takes Herman down, and passes to side control. Herman escapes, but Einemo lands a right. Herman returns with leg kicks, then they trade knees in another clinch. Einemo gets a late takedown, but Herman rolls him off at the bell. scores a close first round for Einemo 10-9.

Round 2 – Herman picks back up with leg kicks to start the second, but Einemo clasts him with a combo. Einemo rocks Herman with a knee in the clinch and follows it up with punches, but slips on a kick and Herman pounces with some ground and pound before letting him up and replacing his mouthguard. Einemo blasts Herman on the restart, but he recovers and drops Einemo with a knee and combo. Einemo slowly returns to his feet, and Herman puts him down again with another knee and punch before finishing him off with ground and pound.

Round 1 –  After settling in and finding their range, Cerrone catches Rocha below the belt but they resume quickly. Cerrone finds the mark with strikes and Rocha gets a takedown, but finds Cerrone looking for submissions and escapes to his feet. Rocha tries to get Cerrone down again, but can’t this time. Cerrone blasts Rocha’s legs with kicks, then stuffs a takedown. Rocha desperately trying to get Cerrone down, but eats more kicks instead. Cerrone avoids Rocha’s fists, follows with punches and lands more kicks to end the round. scores the first for Cerrone 10-9.

Round 2 – Rocha’s limping from the earlier kicks, but attacks with his own to start the second and briefly gets Cerrone down before clinching against the cage. Rocha struggles for the takedown, but Cerrone stays on his feet and finally slips free. Cerrone throws more punches, then returns to the leg kicks. Cerrone defends a takedown, then jumps on top when Rocha slips but lets him stand up. Cerrone attacks the leg with more kicks and nearly chops him down several times. Rocha misses, and Cerrone high kicks to close out the round. Another 10-9 for Cerrone to go up 20-18.

Round 3 – Cerrone works punches to start the third and mixes in another head kick, then stuffs another takedown from Rocha. Spinning back kick by Rocha to the body, but he needs much more than that. Cerrone kicks the midsection as he tries to find his range, then narrowly misses after shrugging off another takedown. Cerrone chops Rocha down with kicks, but forces him to stand. Cerrone smells the finish as Rocha badly limps, but holds back. Rocha desperately tries for another takedown, but Cerrone defends easily. Rocha fires punches, but Cerrone finishes strong with more kicks. Another 10-9 round, and Cerrone should get the unanimous decision 30-27.
