Gina Carano Out, Noons-Masvidal Moved to Main Card at “Strikeforce: Overeem vs. Werdum”

Former Strikeforce women’s contender Gina Carano has been forced off “Strikeforce: Overeem vs. Werdum” after failing to be medically cleared for her matchup with Sarah D’Alelio at the June 18 event in Dallas, Strikeforce CEO Scott Coker announced Tuesday.

It is not yet known why Carano wasn’t cleared for the bout, which was scheduled to be her return after suffering her first loss to Cristiane “Cyborg” Santos in August 2009.

A matchup between lightweight contenders KJ Noons and Jorge Masvidal has been promoted from the prelims to fill the Showtime-televised main card, which features heavyweight grand prix quarterfinals Alistair Overeem vs. Fabricio Werdum and Josh Barnett vs. Brett Rogers.
