UFC Sponsor Xyience Files For Banruptcy

Posted by Kris Karkoski on Jan 23, 2008 at 12:00 am ET3 Comments

One of the UFC’s primary sponsors in recent years, energy drink and supplement maker Xyience, has voluntarily filed for Chapter 11 bankruptcy protection according to the Las Vegas Review Journal:

Xyience Inc., the energy drink company headquartered at 4572 Hacienda Ave., reported $42.3 million in liabilities and $5.3 million in assets. Xyience sells its energy drink through 230 convenience and grocery stores, mostly in the Southwest.

The voluntary bankruptcy petition, filed on Friday, follows an involuntary petition that was filed Jan. 3 by founder and former CEO Russell Pike and others. The involuntary petition remains pending.

The bankruptcy petitions for Xyience were filed under Chapter 11, which provides protection from creditors while the company reorganizes.

The funniest thing I ever saw regarding Xyience was a post-fight interview of KenFlo by Joe Rogan where KenFlo was making believe that he was actually drinking Xyience after his match when the can wasn’t even opened! I think it was after his win over Din Thomas when Din blew out his knee.

The sponsored fighters don’t even want to drink it when they are paid for it and get the stuff for free!
