3 losses in a row gets you a headliner slots against one of the toughest ww’s in the UFC???
Man do I have the wrong hairstyle… :D
Exactly that’s what I was thinking too…….
Not even a preliminary spot, not even a regular spot, not even a co-headliner spot but the main event of the evening!
Or you should learn how to trash talk excessively.
Sick free card in my opinion – plus, I’d rather see this hopefully stand-up slugfest battle headliner fight over a GSP v Rumble or v Fitch “jab/spar/lay on you” round after round boring fight. It’s been tough staying awake during GSP’s last 4 fights. I hope Diaz makes their fight exciting.
Back to this post – as far as the announced fights so far, quality card, good matchmaking – let’s hope for less injuries though. I had a day dream the other day at work that Dana White put together a Silva v Jones mega-fight on the next Spike card, then I sobered up. :-(
i think i would rather see Miller v Henderson headline this card but the card still seems great even if it is on versus
Dan Hardy came to the UFC, did OK in some fights [Markham, Swick] and not so OK in others [Gono, Davis], but managed 4 wins, and then asked for the best.
Normally that sort of request would get a chuckle seeing as how 2 of his wins were by sketchy SD, and Hardy fights in a pretty crowded weightclass, but Hardy brought something more to the table.
Namely, a haircut that would look good on Undisputed and an inkjob that would make Kat Von D humid with delight.
And oh yeah, he’s British, and the UFC would like to do business in the UK.
With me so far?
;-)
He got the best, for better or worse [mostly worse], and GSP nearly made him cry in public after a 25 minute stretching.
Next Dan Hardy downshifted his request engine and asked for someone sort of the best, and Joe Silva gave him former WEC titleholder Carlos Condit.
And didn’t make it our of the first round standing.
Huh.
Then Dan Hardy killed the request engine and humbly [for him] asked for someone that would pinky-swear not to take the fight to the mat, or even talk about anything in the pre-fight other than kicky/punchy, and Joe Silva gave him Chris Lytle.
If Hardy can beat Lytle thats all well and good, but if he can’t?
How many excuses can he offer, and how many chances will his promotability get him when it looks like he can’t win in the Octagon?
Lots of drama playing out on a free-per-view, which ALMOST makes up for the Nick Diaz signing and 137 title shot…
;-)
And I know I skipped over how Hardy hardly showed against Anthony Johnson, but I think the point is made, n’est ce-pas?
;-)
@jcohl,
LMFAO!! He11 I like hardy and the dude makes me laugh sometimes but you seriously NAILED it! Well said brotha
-Dan Hardy has complained about ground fighters “cheating” him because they take him down and “don’t do anything”.
-Condit gave him what he wanted IN ENGLAND his hometown and what happened?
-Hardy made a HUGE mistake expecting a standup fight with Rumble who has a decent wrestling backround and look at what happened?
-Now Hardy is clearly EXPECTING a standup fight with Chris Lytle who by all means is more than “game” to give Hardy what he wants but can also very well submit Hardy if he indeed feels like it.
Hardy has gone on record and critisized wrestlers and “lay n pray” fighters a number of times, but when does he begin to critisize himself for not evolving his game in the richest wrestling based division in all of MMA which is the one he competes in 170?
To be fair to Dan Hardy it is not entirely his fault that he has fallen so hard so fast.
The reason why he got a title shot was not because he was the true “#1 Contender” or because he “earned” one but simply because his color cordinated matching outfit added with his Mohawk (same color as his shorts) and his ….kinda funny smack talk towards both Marcus Davis and GSP made him marketable enough to where he gained a decent following and yeah the dude is from the UK so Dana White and the UFC thought they struck Gold and thought they could get away with trying to say sshit like “Dan Hardy has perfect standup” and “GSP’s weakness is his standup” and not have to face any real consequences.
Dan Hardy was never ready for GSP like level of fighting, he11, he wasn;t even ready for Condit but like i said i do not place the blame entirely on him but on Dana WHite and the UFC for fast tracking a guy who was years before he could be ready for a title shot just because he can talk sshit and because he sports a Mowhawk that matches his shorts…
What we can fault Hardy in is not changing his camp and not training with people who can really help him improve on his wrestling and all around MMA and the reason why we CAN fault him in that is because he complains too much about ground fighters when in reality this is MMA not Boxing. I mean you don’t hear Demian Maia complaining about strikers not wanting to grappler with him right? No, Maia has taken the time to improve his standup where he is weakest and has never used any excuse for getting knocked silly by Nate Marquardt.
Dan Hardy can and problably will defeat Christ Lytle but it is up to Dan Hardy to do what’s neccessary to stay relevant and improve his game before he becomes just another dude with undeserved hype that did not live up to that hype.
GOODBYE TO HARDY IN THE UFC CAREER.
But he could in theory say hello to a Strikeforce career…
If anything I would give Lytle the advantage in this fight. He has a very tough chin and is also a very good boxer. I have to give hardy a little bit of credit because he has been working on his wrestling skills a little but he
still has a long way to go. I’m glad this is the headliner for the simple fact that it will most likely be the most entertaining fight of the night.
I’m a fan of both, but I would like to see Hardy win this fight. Lytle isn’t
going anywhere unless he chooses to.
I gotta agree…bye bye hardy and hello strikeforce. Im also gonna go out on a limb and say SOTN..yea?
First off id like to say I’m a big Lytle fan. But his last fight in australia was embarrassing to say the least. Hardy is coming off some losses as well and they both have a problem with wrestlers. I’m routing for Lytle but if he doesn’t get off his lazy butt and get in shape he will lose. Also I’m sick of this one punch wonder style he has adopted now. He needs to get back to solid boxing. Head movement and work the one two. When he connects then throw the heat! Worse comes to worse if the he gets taken down his sweeps and jujitsu will get him back to his feet to box again. If he trys to slug hardy he might find himself being countered and getting knocked down or out. These two guys are mirror images of themselves. Hardy show some good work off his back with johnson but failed to stuff some take downs and stand back up. They both seem to get stuck in their opponents fight and lose. Im routing for Lytle for the last time. Maybe he’s done what he’s going to do in MMA. I sure hope not. One things clear who ever loses is gone. Good luck Lytle Dans not going to give you this fight you have to take it!
