Michael Bisping, Jason “Mayhem” Miller Set to Coach The Ultimate Fighter 14

Michael BispingMichael Bisping and Jason “Mayhem” Miller are set to coach The Ultimate Fighter 14 before meeting in a middleweight matchup later this year, UFC President Dana White confirmed to The Underground.

Bisping (21-3), who won The Ultimate Fighter 3 in 2006, stopped Jorge Rivera in February for his third-straight win  and was slated to coach opposite Chael Sonnen for a likely title short before the middleweight contender was suspended.

Meanwhile, Miller (24-7) was slated to face Aaron Simpson at July’s UFC 132 in his first UFC bout since 2005 after earning back-to-back wins in 2010 following a 2009 loss to Strikeforce champ Jake Shields.

It is not yet known when Bisping and Miller will square off, while Simpson will likely to get a new opponent for the UFC 132 fight card on July 2 in Las Vegas.

finally an exciting set of coaches

  • Hyper says:

This should be interesting – I loved Mayhem Mill in the bully beat down show.

  • Newfie says:

This is great news. I hate to try and guarantee something in mma, but I think I can safely guarantee that the next season of TUF will be more interesting than the current one. At least as far as the coaches are concerned. I think Miller is hilarious, the shite these two will fling back and forth should be fun to watch.
And I’m super stoked for the fight, whenever it might be taking place, could be a good proving ground for whoever wins it. Especially if they can do it convincingly.

      @newfie
This is almost like a “make-up” call for TUF 13 sucking out loud…
      ;-)

      • will says:

The only thing I think that sucks about TUF 13 is the fighters hearts. Kinda glad we aren’t seeing dudes jiz/p!ss in food, acting like 14 yr old kids, etc. Coaches that are actually professionals towards one another and not so much drama. This could have been an awesome season to focus on the fighters abilities and they all forgot to pack their motivation before leaving their hometowns.

      • NicKageB says:

I respectfully disagree. I thought TUF 13 was gonna suck but I’ve been surprised. I thought the coaches would have no personality and didn’t think JDS could even speak English. There’s been some good fights and the coaches seem a bit more real and connected to the fighters this season.

      • jcohl says:

        @nickageb
Thats cool if you’re enjoying the season.
Ideally everyone would be enjoying the season, unfortunately the ratings have flatlined and I think some casual viewer confidence has been lost…

  • WarHB says:

I would’ve liked to see Bisbing and Sonnen as the coaches for the next season. But replacing Sonnen with Mayhem is the next best thing.

  • kiheiokc says:

Idk why all of you think this is great news. Bisping will be on his best behavior bcuz of the bad reputation he built the last time he coached on tuf. and as a fight this has no interest, does nothing for the division, and nothing against miller but this fight doesnt even make sense give bisping some one higher ranked.

  • 909MT says:

Good to see my boy MAYHEM finally getting some love…Hes still fighting at 13? right?

  • cletusklump says:

Mayhem was made to be coach on the ultimate fighter. But think its too soon, he should have had acouple of fights in the ufc first. Should still be a good season tho and Bisping to win the fight bye decision

    • Norton6 says:

His return? He fought GSP in the UFC many years ago. I agree this will be an interesting season of TUF. Ratings through the roof and Zuffa knows it! I am looking forward to the MAYHEM…..

  • robin69 says:

Miller is gonna get on Bispings nerves while coaching but i dont see him posing any problems for Bisping in the fight. I Predict The Count by TKO

  • cscwb77 says:

Had they done Mir versus Brock this season would have been better since they hate each other. These 2 actually have me excited about next season.

  • mach2 says:

    “Let’s get in on, c’mon”

  • quad says:

can we just scrap this season and start the new one already?

  • mattyk says:

No offence to anyone but why these two morons? First season of the ultimate fighter I refuse to watch

    • jcohl says:

Why these two “morons” you may ask?
      Ratings, of course.
Bisping is a fighter that draws as many jeers as cheers [maybe more], and Jason Miller, no stranger to sh!t-talking and riling up the crowds, is returning to the UFC AND hosts his own TV show, which should help boost sagging TUF ratings.
Plus post-TUF it should be a decent enough fight, with Bisping being the better striker and Miller being the more well-rounded fighter.
I think we all know by now this was supposed to be Bisping and Sonnen, but Miller isn’t a bad replacement.
If you decide to not watch, thats your call, but who does that ultimately benefit?

  • nfld_brawler says:

Looks like a great season in the making with these two coaches in ea
Ch corner..as for there bout it will be a good one for sure too hard for me to pick a winner in this one too even of a fight to call..could anyone imagine if it was mayhem vs sonnen for coaches it would be a unreal season even tho it was probably never on the table one can only dream

  • Dan says:

This is great news and Bisping & Miller will bring TUF back to life again. It’s a shame Sonnen won’t be there but this is the next best match up. Hopefully their fight will be for a No1 contender spot because Bisping wins this hands down every time.

  • M Rowe says:

This shouldn’t be for a number one contender spot. Tim Kennedy should’ve gotten the fight against Bisping, or at least he should have gotten the rubber match against Mayhem. In his last three fights he’s beaten Prangley and Manhoef by submission, and has a questionable lost against Jacare. Kennedy gets no respect from the casual MMA fans. I feel Bisping will dominate Mayhem, and Kennedy will beat Lawler in their fight, and hopefully Dana will have Bisping v Kennedy headline the next UFC Fight for the Troops in January, with the winner getting a title shot. Bisping v Mayhem is for ratings on TUF, and nothing more.

  • bobsapp says:

michael bisbing again? i would love to see something new for once.

  • bfree says:

If Bisping got butt hurt from what Rivera said to him, i wonder how mad he’ll get when Miller’s goofy a$$ starts talking smack to him?
