Akihiro Gono announced Friday on his personal blog that he has been forced to withdraw from his scheduled bout against Jon Fitch at UFC 82 in Columbus, Ohio in March.

According to the entry Gono suffered an injury to his right hand during his UFC debut win against Tamdan McCrory in November. A doctor later checked the injury and advised Gono to cancel the fight, quit training, and undergo surgery later this month to repair the unspecified injury.

No timetable has been announced for his return.
