After learning on Thursday that he would face Shane Carwin instead of fellow Ultimate Fighter 13 coach Brock Lesnar at UFC 131 on June 11, heavyweight contender Junior dos Santos said he was briefly upset by the change before predicting a knockout finish.
“I got a little upset about this change, but I’m happy that the UFC got another opponent for me,” Dos Santos told Sherdog. “Carwin is an excellent fighter and deserves all my respect. His boxing skills are great. It’s gonna be a great fight with tough blows from both sides. I would say that it will end by knockout.
“I want to fight. I’m in the best moment of my career and I want to make my dream of being a UFC champion come true.”
Carwin previously said that he has “a dream to chase” by fighting dos Santos on less than a months notice as both fighters look to earn a shot at heavyweight champion Cain Velasquez.
