Dang this should be a good fight!…Vemola is a strong 205er and I think has the ability to be a real contender and 205 much better suits him than HW!

I have to admit I was hoping for Bonnar vs Machida in Rio since Machida wants in on that card and Bonnar has stated he wants a step up in competition, but now I hope they put Machida agains Matyushenko, and Bonnar better not be looking past Vemola either!

Bonnar doesn’t need a step up in competition. If he had another name besides Bonnar he would have been put out to another organization by now. I personally think that with purchasing of SF he was on his way to a new “home” while still fighting for the UFC thus keeping DW’s promise to never ever ever ever ever erver ervere erever ever even think about releasing him.

There are not alot of fighters out there that go on an 0 and 3 run and continue their career. Granted he is on a 2 fight win streak (happy for him) I do not think Machida would be as forgiving as a Krystof in a stand up battle.

While its true that if Stephan Bonnar wasn’t the “other guy” in the fight voted the best in UFC history he’d be fighting in Bellator, the guy as of late has shown that he’s not quite dead yet.
No, he’s not ready for a title shot, and probably never will be.

What Bonnar is is an entertaining personality outside of the Octagon, and a fighter who brings it to his level best inside the Octagon.
Even if he didn’t have his TUF “employee for life” card stamped from Dana White, promotability and fight ability are a nice combo for any MMA promotion.

Especially for a free-per-view, Bonnar is good stuff, although Karlos Vemola looks like an animal at 205.
    Nice matchmaking IMO…
