This card is seriously stacked. Maybe not to the UFC fan. But to the MMA fan this card is legit.
I don’t think there is a card that Dana White & Co could put together that would stop someone, somewhere, at sometime from whining about it.
He11, DW could drop Cain Velasquez-Junior Dos Santos on someone’s front lawn, and they’d b!tch about, “it shoulda been in the backyard, and Zuffa shoulda bought the beers. Waaah!”
The vast majority of North American MMA fans are either spoiled, or simply don’t remember the bad old days when cards were powered by maybe a single fight, and 3000 was a good crowd.
UFC 129 is rumored to be creeping near a million PPV buys according to some websites, and the prelims reportedly scored 1.5 million viewers.
Business is good, and the sport is thriving.
Yet “fans” find some reason to whine.
Thats why Dana White’s number one rule is : if you don’t like what we’re selling, then don’t buy it”…
;-)
I was thinking 130 was going to be the best card in terms of star power, but 132, so far, has the best card in terms of exciting and interesting fights. For the exception of Dominick Cruz, there isn’t a guy who doesn’t look for the kill at all times and with saying that, Cruz is still going to be looking for some blood against Faber. UFC has some of the best fireworks around the fourth of July.
It’s going to be a good summer to kick back and soak in all the MMA goodness that Zuffa will bring to us.
great card but how does Melvin Guillard go from being a main event fight to not even being on the main card his next fight? would like to see his fight on spike.
I was wonderin the same thing. Melvin scored big with a ko in his main event showing..how is he not on the main card? He’s marketable, on a nice win streak and won the main event his last fight..prelims, really?
Maybe Guillard’s handlers made the business decision that their guy would be better served down the road by taking a prelim fight on SpikeTV and Facebook, which will ensure he is seen by more people, as opposed to him taking an undercard fight, which will mean he’s seen by less people.
Social media drives a lot of UFC matchmaking these days, and an impressive outing on SpikeTV and Facebook will get those so inclined to hit up Dana White on Guillard’s behalf to get him fast-tracked to title contention…
I am so happy and grateful for Zuppa…
