UFC Cuts McCray and Miranda, Gives Marshall Another Chance After Recent Losses

Eliot MarshallFollowing March losses, the UFC has released The Ultimate Fighter 11 runner-up Kris McCray and middleweight Mario Miranda, while light heavyweight Eliot Marshall will get another shot inside the Octagon, according to MMA Weekly.

McCray (5-3) dropped a split decision to John Hathaway at UFC Fight Night 24 to fall to 0-3 in the UFC, while Miranda (12-3) lost a unanimous decision to Aaron Simpson at the March 26 event for his third loss in four UFC fights.

After being surprisingly cut in 2010 with his first UFC loss following three-straight wins, The Ultimate Fighter 8′s Marshall (10-3) returned as a late-replacement at UFC 128, but suffered a first-round TKO to Luiz Cane.

This sport is ever evolving to produce the best fighters, and if you’re not one of them consider yourself cut. Which, puts a great emphasis on being being at your best in various arts.

Man, I think McCray got kind of a raw deal here… His last fight was entertaining and very close and he has potential. I don’t think this would have happened before the Strikeforce buyout.

Oh well, McCray has a chance to do well in some smaller promotions and come back strong one day.
