Why do the japanese fighters get 50 cents?

    • Philly says:

Nobody knows alot of them.. They dont fill the stands as well.. its simple as that.. To the UFC its not the number of wins, or the number of titles that decides your pay.. GSP Is a higher paid fighter then Anderson Silva.. Silva is still considered better (not by me).. But GSP sells out an entire country every time he fights..

My biggest problem with these paydays is Jardine.. 25k?? really?? he takes a fight on 2 weeks notice. Comes in as a huge underdog.. Saves the day for SF baisicly by agreeing to fight.. and they repay him with 25k?? I guess him signing with SF was enough of a bonus, and with what it could lead to, I still think it was a great desicion.. But frankly he deserved more for coming up with a great fight.

      • Advent says:

Yea, but how many fights in a row has he dropped? I think that’s why.

      • bsbiz says:

Or you could remember that he signed a contract that stated he would be paid 25k before the fight? And Scott Coker didn’t spin the Wheel O’Pay and that’s what it landed on? Or that the amount wasn’t decided based on quality of the fight? Any or all of the above are perfectly acceptable answers. And then there are the traditional backstage, undisclosed Zuffa bonuses. And sponsorships.

Maybe they were told “we’ll pay you x amount of yen” which converts to some funky numbers in USD. That’s all I can think of, lol.

But I know what you mean, you would think they would make $95k and $75k respectively.

    • bsbiz says:

It’s strictly a legal thing so it can be considered a “professional fight”. There is other money changing hands, but it’s being done behind the curtain.

    • Donzo says:

Pretty sure he wasn’t asking why they get paid less, but joking about the fact that both Japanese fighters above have #####.50 on their payouts

      • bsbiz says:

That’s the explanation, though. And not everyone who reads this will take that question as a joke.

    • deev says:

They’ll have been paid in Yen, the seemingly random amounts in dollars will be because of the exchange rate.

  • mmahawk says:

Diaz gets $175K and feels he’s underpaid.

Shit, underpay me like that, PLEASE.

    • Mikemac says:

Yeah, I noticed him saying I gotta get paid. Maybe he’s still after that million for a fight at MW. I think the interview where he mentioned this was a month or two ago. Seems a bit unrealistic.

  • TQR says:

I think regardless if Jardine won his last few fights or not, he deserves more than $25,000. IMO he has some of the biggest draw power that Strikeforce has to offer.
By him being on the card, it for sure had an impact on me tuning in to watch the show.
Besides, he IS coming off of two straight wins. They might be oner tomatoe cans, but still, they are wins.
I think he should have earned at least $50,000. He put on a great show, and he is a name to help them get more veiwers.

But, we can’t forget, this is just what the athletic commisions are requiered to report. That does not mean that’s all he was paid. I’m sure he was handed a decent size check in the back room somewhere.
    At least I hope so.

All around I think this was one of the best Strikeforce cards I have seen to date.
I hope to see a lot more like them in the future.

Maybe a hefty paycheck will help snap Diaz out of his most recent bout of paranoia…
    ;-)

  • Alfred says:

Diaz is always complainging that he doesnt get paid any $$ and he drives a Honda and all that BS. Based on what we see, the dudes making like 300K a year. Not a bad salary I dont think.

I cant stand them either. Cant wait for someone to knock diaz out.
