Welterweights Martin Kampmann and John Howard will look to snap their two-fight losing streaks when they clash on the quickly-filling UFC on Versus 4 fight card on June 26 in Pittsburgh, the UFC announced Wednesday.
“Verbal agreements are in for a battle between two of the best strikers in the welterweight division as John “Doomsday” Howard takes on Martin “The Hitman” Kampmann,” UFC President Dana White told UFC.com.
Kampmann (17-5) dropped a split decision to upcoming title challenger Jake Shields in October, then came on the wrong end of a controversial decision to Diego Sanchez in March, while Howard (14-6) has suffered back-to-back losses to Thiago Alves and Jake Ellenberger after winning four-straight UFC bouts.
UFC on Versus 4 also includes Pat Barry vs. Cheick Kongo, Matt Mitrione vs. Christian Morecraft, Joe Lauzon vs. Curt Warburton, Tyson Griffin vs. Manny Gamburyan, and Joe Stevenson vs. Javier Vazquez.
