Mauricio “Shogun” Rua To Return April 19th

Mauricio “Shogun” Rua, who was defeated by Forrest Griffin at UFC 76 in September, will reportedly be returning to action on April 19th as part of the UFC’s first ever event in Canada.
Rua (16-3 MMA, 0-1 UFC) was upset by Forrest Griffin in his UFC debut at UFC 76 in September. The loss by Rua was regarded by many as the upset of the year in 2007. In 2003 Rua was handed the first loss of his career by former UFC fighter Renato Sobral while his second loss came in 2006 as a result of an elbow dislocation at the hands of Mark Coleman. Among his career victories are wins over Antonio Rogerio Nogueira and Quinton Jackson.
No opponent has been named for the fight.
The UFC’s first Canadian event has been long delayed but will finally come to fruition on April 19th at the Bell Centre in Montreal. The event will be headlined by a welterweight unification bout between Georges St. Pierre and Matt Serra and will also feature Rich Franklin taking on Travis Lutter. Jason MacDonald, Sam Stout, Jeff Joslin, and Jonathan Goulet are also expected on the card.

Yeah, it’s shaping up to be an awesome event. Pretty pumped I’m going to be able to be there.
Shogun vs Tito….that would be good. Id rather see that then Machida.
It’s gonna be sick! The Bell Centre will be sold out for sure. Just the fact that GSP will be fighting will sell the place out. Over 20,000 screaming fans will be unbelievable.
I gotta get me some tickets!

u canadians are lucky, i want all the great fights to happen in houston, tx!!
Shogun should be in a better frame of mind for this fight . I read he had alot of things going on in his personal life that probably distracted him plus the bum knee .A Tito fight may be to big for an undercard , why not give him a warm up fight to get back into it ? thats been the problem with the ufc/Pride merger ……. they take the guys and throw them instantly into superfights with new rules and round times . i personally like the two 10 minute round Idea myself….. nobody calls time out in a street fight why have short boxing style rounds? Shogun and Silva suffer from lack of stomps and soccer kicks .As brutal as these moves are they are all part of the game . i’d rather be kicked soccer style than reversed slammed on my neck as is legal in the UFC already …..DOOM is OUT!!!!!
