Thiago Silva’s drug test from a UFC 125 win over Brandon Vera is still being processed, while results for all 14 other fighters tested at the New Year’s Day event have come back clean clean, the Nevada State Athletic Commission announced on Wednesday.
Though not confirmed, the news suggests an issue with Silva’s initial drug test and is likely why Silva is in doubt for his UFC 130 matchup with Quinton “Rampage” Jackson.
With Silva possibly out, a rematch between Jackson and rival Rashad Evans was reported for the May 28 event in Las Vegas, but another meeting between the former light heavyweight champions remains only a rumor for now.
Testing clean from UFC 125 were Frankie Edgar, Gray Maynard, Chris Leben, Brian Stann, Brandon Vera, Phil Baroni, Brad Tavares, Jeremy Stephens, Dustin Poirier, Diego Nunes, Daniel Roberts, Jacon Volkmann, Dong Hyun Kim and Clay Guida.
The UFC 130 fight card is headlined by lightweight champ Frankie Edgar vs. Gray Maynard and also features Wanderlei Silva vs. Brian Stann, Frank Mir vs. Roy Nelson, and Thiago Alves vs. Rick Story.
