Former light heavyweight champions Quinton “Rampage” Jackson and Rashad Evans will meet again at UFC 130 after Thiago Silva was forced out of his matchup with Jackson at the May 28 event in Las Vegas, according to MMA Weekly.
Evans was targeting a May return after a knee injury knocked him out of a UFC 128 title bout with champ Mauricio “Shogun” Rua that instead went to Evans’ teammate Jon Jones.
The rivals squared off as coaches on The Ultimate Fighter 10 before finally meeting in the Octagon last May, with Evans seemingly earning a title shot with a unanimous decision over Jackson in the main event of UFC 114.
Evans (15-1-1) rebounded after losing the title to Lyoto Machida with a win over Silva last January before topping Rampage, while Jackson (31-8) bounced back with a win over Machida in November.
The matchup adds to a stacked UFC 130 fight card headlined by lightweight champ Frankie Edgar vs. Gray Maynard and also featuring Wanderlei Silva vs. Brian Stann, Frank Mir vs. Roy Nelson, and Thiago Alves vs. Rick Story.
