According to Liddell, the announced light heavyweight title match between Forrest Griffin and title-holder Quinton Jackson will take place in August following the conclusion of The Ultimate Fighter 7 on which both will serve as coaches.

As for Liddell, he’s expecting to fight again in June or July with hopes of a light heavyweight title shot before the end of 2008.

    Chucky vs Machida…..I love it!

  • Del says:

why do they give jackson a year off inbetween bouts?

  • SpWedle says:

That would be a fight. Rampage vs. Griffen, that’s gonna be a great fight.

  • scotchydow says:

I agree with the Machida/Liddel match. It is a really bad match for Chuck though. Machida is a counter striker like himself.

  • Del says:

I hate lyoto but you are right scotch, it is not a good matchup for chuck, he has to get his ground game going for that one.

  • derreck says:

Griffen rampage will be a good fight? Are you serious? I know this has been the year of anything can happen and UFC hype machine, but come on, forrest is going to get owned by Rampage!

  • johnboy says:

come on now derreck every1 thought forrest would get owned by shogun an we all no wat happend there, forrest has got the biggest heart in mma an he deserves this shot,
i wana see chuck jardine again then winner ov that gets winner ov rampage forrest.
any1 no wats happening wiv tito at mo i saw him in the crowed wiv his b**** on sat lol but wen is he fighting again an wiv who? maybe tito could fight machida who dint rly impress me to be honest

  • FixXeR says:

I give Forrest a 50% chance to win this fight. I am definently not counting him out. Like johny said…..I though he was gonna get owned by Shogun and he didnt. I think its gonna be a war…but please forrest….do not try to exchange with Rampage cause he is much stronger than Bonnar. He will knock you out.

Also…was it just me or did chuck look in much better shape than his previous 2? His gut was much smaller.

  • Gsquat says:

Definitely not counting Forrest out of anything, however, I feel he’ll be thoroughly owned be Rampage. As for Liddell… Rashad.

  • Sammy says:

To the top comment…they gave Rampage all this time off becuase he screwed up his right hand really bad when he faught Henderson. Had bone chips, ligament damage, and i think cracked his wrist. Last word i got was the he had just started training again in the beginning part of December. But him and forrest will be a good fight. I wanna see Liddell vs. Griffen though. Or see Anderson Silva bulk up and fight at 205 against him.

  • Yo says:

What’s up with the long delays between title fights? Can’t they defend at least twice a year?

  • Java says:

“they gave Rampage all this time off becuase he screwed up his right hand really bad when he faught Henderson. Had bone chips, ligament damage, and i think cracked his wrist.”

Yo – didja actually *read* the post immmediately above yours?

  • ereyna92806 says:

I want to see Jackson fight Silva or Rua just to see him cry in the right again! Griffen will must likely give Jackson all he gots but will most be a bloody mess after 5 rounds. The thing is he maybe a bloody mess with the belt around his waist…Ps Randy is a greed little b****!

  • scotchydow says:

I like Forrest but I still don’t see him lasting more than 2 rounds with Rampage. I have decided that the problem that most of the “Pride” fighters are having with the octagon is the size of the cage compaired to the size of the ring. The ring is a phone booth compaired to the octagon, and forces the fighters to “go at it”. The octagon requires a little more strategy, and definately favors fighters like Liddel and Machida(counter strikers) I don’t think that Couture is a greedy little b****. He genuinely seems “heartbroken” about his split with the UFC.

  • Vampslayr says:

I’d like to see Liddell vs Rua.

  • zero says:

chuck will fight machida if rua isnt recovered.

  • Danielle says:

I really do think Griffin will give Jackson a run for his money. Griffin is such a competitor; and to be honest Jackson’s fight with Henderson could have been better. Now, Henderson vs Silva will be totally freaking awesome. That fight will definitely go 5 rounds.

Fights I’d like to see in 2008: C. Liddell vs H. Alexander; W. Silva vs T. Ortiz; T. Silva vs K. Jardine

Does anyone know what happened with Nakamura?
