Brian Stann’s wish has been granted.
After defeating fellow middleweight Chris Leben at UFC 125, former WEC light heavyweight champion and United States Marines Corp Captain Brian Stann requested a match with fan favorite Wanderlei Silva.
The UFC has made that bout official for UFC 130 via it’s Ultimate Insider webcast.
Stann is currently riding a 2-fight win streak after earning a first round TKO over Leben on January 1. “All-American” has found great success since dropping down from light heavyweight to middleweight.
Silva, meanwhile, hasn’t competed since last February when he defeated Michael Bisping at UFC 110 via unanimous decision. He has since been recovering from a July 2010 knee surgery.
UFC 130 takes place on May 28 from Las Vegas, NV. The event is headlined by a lightweight title rematch between champion Frankie Edgar and Gray Maynard.
Also confirmed for the event is a light heavyweight bout pitting Quinton “Rampage” Jackson vs Thiago Silva and a heavyweight bout pitting Frank Mir vs Roy Nelson. A welterweight bout between Thiago Alves and Rick Story rounds out the main card.
