I was watching a video on another site showing fighters predicting the outcome, one of them said he had heard that Vitor was afraid of Silva, and because of it he was picking Silva. Now I’m not saying what he said is true(I doubt it), but if it is, it’s obviously not a good thing for Belfort. For his sake I hope it’s not true. For our sake I hope it’s not true.

IMO every 185 challenger should be maybe just a little bit afraid to face Anderson Silva in a cage.
I mean honestly, the guy simply hasn’t lost in the UFC.
      EVER.
If that doesn’t cost you some sleep before fight night, I don’t know what will…

  • bigmike12 says:

^^ i saw that video too… hope vitor realizes anderson is human and if chael could knick him on his @$$ with a standing strike vitor will be able to knock Silva out cold.. granted he is there mentally

  • mikewh says:

I wouldn’t buy into that garbage at all, fear doesn’t factor in with both guys having faced the baddest of the bad and with Vitor having 12 first round KO’s i would bet Anderson will be careful himself.
There’s not one area Belfort is weak in and as far as i see he has more speed and explosiveness than Silva.
This one will boil down to who makes the first mistake and gameplan, they are both excellent counter punchers that are capable of ending fights in one punch.
It likely will be a slow building fight, don’t want to run headlong into a KO.

    • glassman6 says:

more explosiveness not sure i agree. speed definately it seems as if you are right.

the thing is anderson always wins the big fights. belfort not so much!!!except cutting randy 49 sec into the fight. he also lost twice to randy, lost tito, lost twice to oveerheem, chuck, sakaraba. if you really look at his record, it would be terrible if he wasnt fighting no-namers and middle-to lower tier guys in between his losses to all the stars.

i would be scared if i was him. hes been knocking people out and quits that camp.wtf??? maybe it caught up to him that hes really been doing the same thing everybody gets on fedor about. terry martin, linland, james zikic?????,ivan serati???? we dont even know if he is going to have ring rust. spider put hendo away. vitor lost every round. what he did to ace. same has been done twice by spider to a younger less damaged ace.

not tryin to be a hater but i heard this spider or gsp has finally met his match, one too many times. everyone is their greatest test to date. maybe if vitor had knocked out hendo or randy!!! or even beat oveerheem or chuck. sorry not creditable to say that its spiders hardest fight when he has already fought hendo and forrest griffin.

oh and imo to put the words ufc mw next to your name is funny. you have 10-15 fights in the ufc and none at mw. to me your not a ufc mw!!!

You make some good points, especially the ring rust possibility and quitting on Shawn Thompkins so close to the fight seems sketchy.
I’m interested in seeing a good version of the guy. he’s been through years of crap with his sister kidnapped and murdered, finding out years later the story.
He seemed to half ass his training and fights through those tough times.
Never said he finally met his match and i wouldn’t use Forrest as a measuring stick…that guys best days IMO were in the TUF final.
My opinion still is he is a well rounded dangerous guy and i wouldn’t be surprised to see him beat Silva…always has been and as you say he has failed in the big fights in the past but i’m hoping for better this time.

      • glassman6 says:

i was just saying that forrest did beat tito. and imo he beat tito in both fights. wandi was a beast when vitor beat him, but wandi is a way better matchup for vitor then alot of other fighters. because vitor i think is actually bigger then wandi??? im mean they both fight at 205 also but with wandi he knew wandi was going to be in front of him. because thats wandi gameplan back then. install fear and pain by trying to knock the guy out as quick as possible.

the thing is when you see spider fight, lets say a forrest griffin. did you see his boxing???? he just like diaz he may not beat you with one strike[ unless its a knee right to your nose] but he picks you apart and frustrates you. i dont think he threw a kick or knee in the forrest fight because he knew if forrest took him down it maybe over due to his lack of size and strength.

i also dont agree with you on forrest! i mean yes forrest is like this– if you hit forrest hard he is either going to be knocked out. OR IF HE MAKES IT OUT OF YOUR FIRST ATTEMPT TO KNOCK HIM OUT, hes probably going to take everything else you have for him!!forrests bjj is awesome! he is a big 205er. and is well rounded. if he had more power he would be a top10 p4p imo. i mean wins over tito, shogun, rampage. and truthfully before he got his legs caught in a very weird postion, i thoght he was doing very good against rashad. i think he will dec ace. or get knocked out in the first!!! just kidding mostly, but truthfully i dont think there is anyway ace will win other then a 1st round ko. sub or dec only for forrest. i plan on betting big on forrest.

spider really does have great gameplaning even if it makes you hate him! i like vitor more then spider. i just hate the way people are given beltshots by dana. and i dont think vitor is the no.5 mw in the world. but on the real note i want vitor to crush him. i dont really like blackhose. besides lyoto who is my favorite fighter.

      • glassman6 says:

        blackhouse! lol

      • tc says:

        @glassman6

Good points…….Vitor will be “KenFlowed”…..like losing big matches.

  • Newfie says:

My hope, if Belfort manages to pull off the upset, is that Silva does NOT get an immediate rematch. I know that’s kind of a stupid thing to say before the fight even happens, its just imo I think the UFC has been giving out too many immediate rematches…Maynard, Rua, BJ, Sonnen (would have gotten one)… Of course arguments can be made for each rematch individually, and if this ends with a controversial decision of course there’s going to be a rematch.
IF Silva does lose I hope they do the Silva/GSP fight anyway, then the winner can face the winner of Belfort/Okami.

    • jcohl says:

I would also suggest that the immediate rematch thing will depend on the PPV buyrate for 126.
If it comes in with near-Lesnar’ian numbers, we’ll see an immediate rematch.
If the fanbase greets A Silva-Belfort with mediocre numbers, we could see Belfort defending in London or Manchester against Michael Bisping, assuming he beats Jorge Rivera.
Plus there is the possibility that A Silva might simply have had enough of MMA at this stage of his otherwise flawless UFC career…

  • Binson says:

If you take a look at the clips, vitor’s clips are from 97 and on, nothing recent. only maybe one from 2005 vs ortiz where he lost..
belfort is not trainging hard at all if you saw his recent video blog of training, guy looks like he’s just sweating sitting in a chair. And to leave tompkins so close to the fight shows he’s unprepared and has zero to no confidence

  • manny says:

let’s all pray together for Anderson to win this fight…otherwise we will never get to see him fight GSP. If he beats GSP, he should request another superfight at 205, win that belt, then retire as the greatest UFC fighter to date.

    • FlyingTriangle says:

Amen to that – GSP v Silva is the one for me. Both guys are old school but with such a modern fighting ethic.

Chale is a beast and would bong out Belfort and we’ve all seen Anderson weather almost 5 rounds of punishment to pull a successful triangle against an intelligent and extremely violent Chale. Haven’t seen anything like that since Royce/Kimo.

Methinks the only way to beat Anderson is via flying heel hook… good luck Vitor!
