A women’s 135-pound title bout between champion Marloes Coenen and Miesha Tate has been added to “Strikeforce: Columbus”, but a planned rubber match between middleweight contenders Jason “Mayhem” Miller and Tim Kennedy is off the March 5 event, according to MMAjunkie.
Coenen (18-4) came up short in a bid for Strikeforce’s 145-pound title against champ Cristiane “Cyborg” Santos last January, but rebounded with a third-round armbar of Sarah Kaufman in October to claim the welterweight title.
Tate (11-2) has reeled off five-straight wins since falling to Kaufman in 2009 and most-recently topped Hitomi Akano in August in the finals of a 135-pound tourney.
The third meeting between Miller and Kennedy was recently scrapped from the card for unknown reasons, though it was never actually official, and they’ll instead be shifted to other fights.
The Showtime-televised event is headlined by light heavyweight champ Rafael “Feijao” Cavalcante vs. Dan Henderson.
