Strikeforce Challengers 14 takes place February 18 in Austin, Texas and will feature a main event between undefeated lightweight Lyle “Fancy Pants” Beerbohm and Pat Healy, MMAFighting reports.
The Showtime-televised event is also slated to include 155-pound prospect Ryan Couture.
“Fancy Pants” is a perfect 15-0 in his career including wins over UFC veteran Rafaello Oliveira and current UFC fighter Duane Ludwig.
Beerbohm has racked up three victories under the Strikeforce banner but has not competed in the promotion since Strikeforce: Heavy Artillery in May 2010 when he won a split decision over Vitor Ribeiro. Since then he has picked up two straight submission victories in the Rumble on the Ridge promotion.
Couture, son of UFC hall of famer Randy Couture, looks to find his second win after making his professional MMA debut in August 2010 at Strikeforce Challengers 10. Couture was set to compete in November for Strikeforce but pulled out of the bout because of a staph infection.
The Ultimate Fighter 12 veteran Marc Stevens is also expected to make his Strikeforce debut at Strikeforce: Fedor vs Silva against Renzo Gracie Fight Team member John Cholish according to MMAJunkie.
Stevens competed twice in the cage during his time on TUF, losing both times due to a guillotine choke. Those losses were at the hands of Cody McKenzie and Aaron Wilkinson, respectively.
Strikeforce: Fedor vs Silva takes place on February 12 in East Rutherford, New Jersey and features the first two quarterfinal bouts of the Strikeforce Heavyweight Grand Prix tournament. Fedor Emelianenko vs Antonio “Big Foot” Silva headlines the event one of those quarterfinal bouts.
