Fedor would destroy Coutour. Of course Dana doesn't want to see that. I like Randy and I think in his prime this would be a great fight, but not anymore. Fedor could beat ANY UFC fighter.

Let's review;

1) Dana offers Fedor more $$ than M-1 but wants exclusivity (who wants to see your fighter potentially lose elsewhere?)

2) Fedor signs with M-1 so he can still enter his Sambo tournaments.

3) Randy "retires" from the UFC because Fedor signed elsewhere and he was disrespected because Fedor was allegedly offered more money by Dana than he was getting paid

4) War of Press Conferences - Couture vs Dana

5) Tim Sylvia announces he is fighting in Columbus against an unknown opponent (speculation was/is vs Big Nog for Interim Heavyweight Title)

6) Dana on a radio interview (which I've listened to in its entirety) stated that "Anything was possible" regarding Couture vs Fedor (in a UFC Octagon)

7) M-1 announced Fedor vs Choi for year end card

8) Reports come out that UFC turned down cross-promotion with M-1 for Fedor vs Couture

I'm sure I missed a point or 2 but that is my understanding of what led us to where we are today.

If I'm Dana (and I'm certainly not), my thinking is like this... I offer the guy (Fedor) a huge contract. My only stipulation is that it be exlusive, because if you lose outside the UFC, I can't market the guy who beats you. If I accept this "cross-promotion" I'm going against everything I've stood for (no tournaments and no non-exclusive fighters). It opens a whole can of worms for my other fighters. I don't need 15 guys under contract all coming to me tomorrow wanting to do this and that because of this one fight. I'm the one taking the risk (risk of promoting a rival company, risk of promoting a rival company's top fighter). I've said "anything is possible" but it has to be under my terms or I won't make the fight happen in the UFC, end of story. If they want to go fight each other in freaking Antarctica 3 years from now, I could give a shit, and so will most of the MMA world.

(end of me pretending to be Dana)

Forgive me for crediting "Gay" Metzger and the Shamrocks, but they desirve it. On another note..... I heard there may be a Shamrock vs Shamrock fight in the future (not in the UFC, but still. I say make it a fight to the death, and then shoot the winner!)

I wouldn't go as far as to say he has done more than all of them put together, but as a combined whole-Dana,Tito,Randy,Fedor,Pride,the UFC, The Gracie Family, Shamrocks,Abbots,Metzgars,Fryes, all of these people as a collective have made the sport what it is. Dana could not have done what he did with the TUF show without the likes of Randy Couture and Chuck Liddell, and the fan base that they had already built before the "new fans" jumped aboard. I agree that Dana is due a lot of credit, but don't take credit away from the fighters either.

White is smart and the smart move is to not put over M-1...Randy will never fight again because he'll be in court till he's 50...M-1 will die out in 5 years...White and the brothers will still rule the mma world...PS White has done more for mma then Rand, Tito, Fedor and Chuck all put together and you internet bloggers need to give him the respect he has coming to him!!!
