“Shogun”, “Ninja” Part Ways With Chute Boxe
The Chute Boxe Academy has announced that UFC fighter Mauricio “Shogun” Rua and older brother Murilo “Ninja” Rua have left the famed Brazilian institution to pursue their own team in the United States. Chute Boxe head master Rudimar Fedrigo issued a statement today on the Chute Boxe official website confirming the departure of the Rua brothers. In the statement, Fedrigo expresses his sadness in seeing both Ninja and Shogun leave. However, he wishes them all the best in their future endeavors and reminds them that the doors to the Chute Boxe Academy shall always remain open for them.
Ninja and Shogun are the latest big name fighters to leave the Chute Boxe Academy. Other standouts that left the team this year include Wanderlei “The Axe Murderer” Silva and Andre Dida.
Murilo Rua was last seen at Cage Rage 24 where he defeated Xavier “Professor X” Foupa Pokam by rear naked choke in the second round. Meanwhile, Mauricio Rua is coming off a loss against Forrest Griffin at UFC 76.

Chute have always been one of, if not the best organizations in the world. This definitely ranks up there with Hughes leaving Miletich as far as surprises in camp departures for 2007.
So will Wandy leave Xtreme Couture to join ChU.S.A.te Boxe?
wow i didnt see this coming
i dont no to much about ninja i saw him fight at cage rage an he dint look to good does any1 think he could make it in the ufc? who would u compare him to in the ufc? comment back plz any1?
Ninja is definitely a solid competitor, although I wouldn’t put him in the same class with his brother or Wanderlei. He’s got solid wins on his resume including a rip-off loss to Rampage, which even Rampage conceded that he lost and handed the trophy to Ninja. He tends to be a bit out of shape and has a history of gassing, but he definitely brings the CB pressure style to all his fights. I think he can definitely contend in the UFC, and could be a factor as long as he continues to stay focused and work on his cardio. There are definitely guys in the division that he would tool. You should check out some of his fights on dailymotion.com. There’s one vicious one where he gets KO’d in like ten seconds by Denis Kang though.
cheers big v he looks like hes got heavy hands and no fear i like that in a fighter, i dont rly no too much about all these pride fighters cos its not shown on english tv or if it is ive never seen it any1 out there who nos were i can watch it give us a shout cos would love to see more to get to no sum ov the fighters that r cuming into the ufc, this is the best sport in the world an i want to learn more, hope u can help me! cheers again big v.
One of my favorite Pride fights (and staredowns!!!) was “Ninja” vs Arona. Even though “Ninja” lost, he puts up a game fight. The Rua’s have a warrior spirit (even if both have suffered losses as of late) I think a lot of the “Pride fighter loses” might be coming from fighters loosing their home….
Speaking of Arona, I wish he would have signed with the UFC also, another warrior.
johnboy a great way to watch pride fights or just any fight u’ve missed on pay per view is http://www.mmatko.com it is a great website. Theres a search button at the top and im sure if u click in pride fc or the fighter ur looking for in pride there will be a few results. There ya go brits helping brits;) and id compare ninja to someone like nate maquardt but his only problem is his conditioning.
Where is Silva at now? Or did he start his own camp here in the U.S.? I know one thing…I really hope learning English is on their To Do lists!
I heard Wandy is at Xtreme Couture. I think it would be great to see all of them over there (if Mauricio can forgive Forrest for beating his ass) Couture could use their Jitz experience and warrior spirit(s)
