“I’m fighting in the house that guys like Chris Leben and Wanderlei Silva built, and I think I’d like to fight Wanderlei next,” Stann said at the post-UFC 125 press conference. “He’s been a guy that I’ve watched for years before I ever put a glove on. He’s amazing. He’s as tough as they come, as good as they come, and a multiple weight champion. I want him.”
With Leben coming off a loss and Chael Sonnen suspended, a Silva-Stann matchup is a possibility when Silva returns to UFC action in the coming months.
“I’m in this to fight the best,” Stann said. “I don’t want any question marks left behind when my career is over, so whoever I need to fight to be in the top 10 in the world is who I want to fight next.
“That’s my number one goal for 2011 is to be a top-10 middleweight in the world and work my way towards a title shot. I think I’d like to fight [Silva] next, but I’ll be prepared for anybody.”
