Huerta’s an awesome figher, very entertaining to watch. Good for him though that hes taking time off, especially if its for school and to be able to spend time with his family and such.But I will miss watching his fights.Hope he comes back just as strong, if not stronger

I don’t blame him for taking a break. Finishing school sends a positive message and is a good image for the UFC to promote (see Penn, Sherk, War Machine, etc…).

Ill agree with you on that. They were mediocre fighters(even though 2 of them were undefeated before fighting Huerta) but certainly not nobodies. And Ill agree in 08 he should fight some big names like a Penn or Stevenson or Sherk. But whats this talk of Diego vs Huerta? Is Diego dropping down and I wasnt informed? That would be cool if Diego is done having “nightmares” about Fitch.

They make Huerta out to be a monster, and he has faced some mediocre opponents. Put him in against Penn, Stevenson, Sherk…basically some fighters that have proven themselves. The fighters that Roger has fought in the past are not bad fighters by any means, they are just not in the same class of fighters as the above mentioned. Im not slammin Huerta…I just want to see him fight some tougher opponents. I guess what I meant by my statement was, the UFC/media, make him out to be some kind of monster and a very popular fighter. They need to pair him up with another popular fighter that is a proven fighter.

How are you going to say that aside from Guida he was fighting nobodys? Doug Evans was undefeated before he ran into Huerta. Alberto Crane undefeated til Huerta. John Halverson is a veteran fighter that trains with the MFS. The only fight that wasnt stiff lightweight competition was Leonard Garcia and thats only because Garcia is a featherweight and that fight still turned out to be amazing.

I think he deserves the time off. Huerta pretty much did all he could do for 2007 and I think 2008 will be a good year for him as well. He might contend for a title as soon as early 2009.
