I know this has been said already, but besides the fotn award, I really hope Phan got more than the $8000 listed. I think he probably did, I know a lot of people bash Dana and all, but the UFC is actually pretty good to their guys, especially if they think someone got screwed on a decision.
@newfie -
If memory serves there is a bit on another thread about Garcia and Phan receiving equal reported payouts…
Check that, my mistake, apologies all around.
I was looking at bonuses.
That being corrected, I highly doubt many UFC fighters these days get JUST whats reported…
Nam Phan also received a win bonus ($8k) in addition to a Fight of the Night bonus.
I guess the lighter you are, the lighter your paycheck.
IMO Jose Aldo will change all of that.
Also, now that the lighter weightclasses are in the big show, their payouts will eventually grow, sort of like the 155ers have…
keep in mind they’re coming over from the WEC where there was a lot less revenue coming in. As they become assimilated into the UFC and earn new contracts the pay will increase.
Are you sure? I thought they got paid on a per-pound basis.
Per-Pound?
Hilarious.
Wouldn’t have been a bad time for Dana to deny paying Pham any additional money. He’s always telling fighters not to allow it to go to the judges score cards because of crappy decisions like that, that being said kudo’s to Dana if he did pay Nam more money.
when the head of NSAC comes out and says he was shocked by the judges score cards… you know you got screwed…
