Leonard Garcia and Nam Phan each earned $30K for their hard fought and controversial “Fight of the Night” at The Ultimate Fighter 12 Finale last night. In what was expected to be a close fight, Phan appeared to be the winner with superior striking throughout all three rounds, but in the end, the judges favored Leonard Garcia. Proving the old MMA proverb “Never leave it in the hands of the judges.”
In the least surprising method of finish Saturday night, Cody McKenzie notched yet another guillotine victory, extending his win streak to 12-0 with the tenth-straight guillotine finish for the Fancy Pants Fight Team member. While the earlier choke by Nick Pace (who missed weight) was more creative, McKenzie earned the “Submission of the Night” bonus.
Finally, WEC import Pablo Garza ended the first featherweight bout in UFC history with a brutal flying knee to the head of Fredson Paixão. The knockout was the only one on the card, but it certainly earned its designation as “Knockout of the Night”.

Did I mishear, or did Mike Goldberg incorrectly identify Phan-Garcia as the first 145 fight in UFC history?
And its cool to see Phan get the credit and the cash, if not the win, that he earned in the cage last night…
he did i thought it was the first?
i think he said it was the first live 145 fight
@KSEcALAMITY is correct. he said it was the first live fw fight. As these are prelims they happened before Phan-Garcia
Much obliged for the clarification, guys…
