Former light heavyweight champions Quinton “Rampage” Jackson and Lyoto Machida both tipped the scale at 205-pounds on Friday to make their main event official for tomorrow’s pay-per-view card in Detroit.
UFC President Dana White stepped between the headliners after Machida’s fist got too close to Jackson’s face, but tempers quickly cooled and “Rampage” went on to promise fans an exciting fight.

I thought Matt Brown was originally supposed to fight Rory Macdonald
but maybe Rory got injured in training. I would rather see Griffin
taking on Paul Kelley myself. I hope the Heat is successful in his
return.
yup it was his knee
Rory is young and real talented as seen in the first 2 rounds against Condit but i wonder if a knee injury can change a fighter, is it as devastating to an MMA athlete as it is to some other sports.
It’s amazing what the surgeons and sports medicine people can do these days but i’m guessing there has to be that nagging mental image of the injury left in the back of your mind in your first fight back.
been there, had that… a lot of it dependant upon the severity of the injury. My doctor wouldn’t clear me until I answered “no” when asked if I thought about my knee in training. It can be a big set-back but it can also be a gut-check where you really discover how strong of a person you are. Shogun obliterated his knee against Griffin and is now the 205 champ… now if the question is whether or not it can cause problems later on? Well just look to why a 205 defense has been delayed. Knee’s have the same basic components across human anatomy but not all heal the same.
It’s time for some rampage!
Time for you to have a new avatar my friend!
Don’t hate on The Crow!
Not hatin Lex, but after Saturday Jazz will be sportin a new avatar of my choice for a bit. ; )
Both Rampy and Machinda are my favs. Hard to support anyone.
^ just go with the guy who had more title defenses =P
Nice to see Karo making the weigh ins.. 1 more day to go
And he looked like he is in great shape! Cut like a bag of milk.
The weigh ins at the Palace were awesome. I’m glad I am a fight club member because I got to meet so many fighters and watched the q and a with Ryan Bader. The crowd was extremely pro-Rampage and were super loud when he entered. I can only imagine how loud it will be tomorrow :)
@ Clown
Karo didn’t look very good live. It is nice to know he hasn’t dropped off the card yet :P
Also, I noticed that the weigh-ins weren’t posted. Sh*t almost went down between Machida and Rampage when they faced off. Dana White had to seperate the two. I was hoping that Rampage would power bomb Soares through a table…. he didn’t.
Ramy was asking some one to hold just before he was wearing his clothes. What was that about? Was he asking Machida to hold for amin or somehting like that?
Karo looked quite soft around the middle. You gotta wonder where his head might be now.
Also, wonder which Penn will show up? The old lazy rich boy that fought for entertainment or the one that ran through the LW division for a bit.
@ TC.
Rampage was telling Soares to wait up. Ed looked like he was going to shit himself when he saw that. He kept pointing at himself like “man, what am I going to do now after talking sh*t about everyone.” Rampage went over and shook his hand and most likely apologized.
