From the looks of it, Sean Sherk failed a drug test for steroids. Taken from the Wrestling Observer link above, “UFC officials confirmed today that Sean Sherk has been stripped of his lightweight championship due to California upholding the steroid test result in the hearing on 12/4.”
wow i think now they should have a number 1 contender match between huerta and florian for the winner of the title at ufc 80 that would be a great matchup anyone agree?
how do you think florian is not ready for a title shot i think he would kill stevenson but a penn matchup would be tough and a huerta one would be as well but that if huerta is able to beat florian then he is definatley ready for a title matchup cause the only test he has had is guida and he got owned before the third round rolled around i had 20-18 guida before that round.
The lightweight division is full of talent, and Kenny is not the most deserving right now if you ask me. He’ll get his shot eventually. With the depth of fighters in the division, it’ll be impressive if anyone can hold onto the belt for very long. Remember, Florian lost to Sherk in a vacant title fight a little over a year ago. Considering his record at the time I didn’t think he was ready then, but he impressed me even though he lost a unanimous decision.
Still, he doesn’t have a ton of fights under his belt, and the competition he’s faced isn’t at the level of some of the others who are in contention. In my opinion he’d need to beat someone like, say, Huerta to really deserve another shot at it. I’d like to see Gomi come to the UFC as well… win or lose I love watching him fight.
wow well i guess its not interim title 4 penn and joe anymore
It would appear likely that it is now for the vacant title but we have to wait for official confirmation.
What exactly is the reason?

It would be sick to see gomi fight in the UFC and have him face BJ Penn or if Diego dropped down to lightwieght that would be an amzing fight
