Winless in his last three fights, Jamie Varner will look to get back on track in his hometown when the former WEC champ is expected to take on fellow lightweight Shane Roller at WEC 53 on December 16 in Phoenix, Arizona, according to MMA Weekly.
Varner (16-4-1) dropped a unanimous decision to rival Donald Cerrone in the “Fight of the Night” at September’s WEC 51, while Roller (8-3) suffered a third-round submission to contender Anthony Pettis in August following three-straight wins.
Donald Cerrone vs. Chris Horodecki was also recently added to the Versus-televised WEC 53 fight card, which is co-headlined by lightweight champ Ben Henderson vs. Anthony Pettis and bantamweight champ Dominick Cruz vs. Scott Jorgensen.
