UFC 80: Wilson Gouveia vs. Jason Lambert
The UFC has announced that Wilson Gouveia will take on Jason Lambert at UFC 80 in Newcastle, England:
UFC 76’s loss was apparently UFC 80’s gain, as the previously scrapped light heavyweight battle between Wilson Gouveia and Jason “The Punisher” Lambert will now take place in Newcastle, England on January 19th, with the winner undoubtedly moving closer to his dream of a shot at 205-pound boss Quinton ‘Rampage’ Jackson.
“Gouveia has had success in the cage,” said Lambert, 23-6, “but he has not felt the pressure that I bring.”
Gouveia (9-4 MMA. 3-1 UFC) was defeated in his UFC debut on the finale of The Ultimate Fighter 2 by Keith Jardine but has since scored three straight victories in the octagon over Wes Combs, Seth Petruzelli, and Carmelo Marrero.
Lambert (23-6 MMA, 4-1 UFC) opened his career in the UFC with three straight wins against Rob MacDonald, Terry Martin, and Branden Lee Hinkle. At UFC 63 he was defeated by The Ultimate Fighter 2 winner Rashad Evans but bounced back with a victory over Renato “Babalu” Sobral in March at UFC 68.

I think Lambert is the best 205 in the UFC that no one talks about. I’m not saying he’s top 5, but I’d put him in my top 10 right now (in the UFC).
Lambert is no joke; the guy is one tough guy who brings it in every fight. I think his loss to Evans was a bump in the road and he definately redeemed himself by beating Babalu.
