Efrain Escudero Released by UFC, Talking to Strikeforce and Bellator

The Ultimate Fighter 8 lightweight winner Efrain Escudero has been released by the UFC following his loss to Charles Oliveira last Wednesday at UFC Fight Night 22, but is already in talks with Strikeforce and Bellator for his return, Escudero Tweeted on Monday.

Escudero (13-2) topped Phillipe Nover to win TUF 8 in December 2008, but has gone just 2-2 since, earning wins over Cole Miller and Dan Lauzon while dropping bouts to undefeated prospects Evan Dunham and Oliveira.

Escudero, who failed to make weight against Oliveira, becomes the second TUF winner to be let go by the promotion following TUF 4’s Travis Lutter, who notably missed weight for a title shot against middleweight champ Anderson Silva.
